Interesting fact not related to anything: This week marks the 566th career PGA TOUR event for Bob Estes, who is currently 1 over for the week a little more than midway through his second round. Should Estes go on to make the cut – he’s one stroke inside the number – it would be his 400th career made cut.
While significant, neither of those is of course a record. The player with the most career made cuts on TOUR? Jay Haas, with 592, followed by Tom Kite at 590.
Just how long has Estes been around golf? In addition to those 500-plus starts, he once worked for Charles Coody in the bag room at Fairway Oaks Golf & Racquet Club. His first TOUR victory came in 1989 at the Texas Open and his last at the 2002 Kemper Insurance Open. -- Brian Wacker
