Matt Every waited out a rain delay Thursday afternoon and another due to fog on Friday morning. Maybe that’s why he’s having a hard time getting untracked early in the second round.
Every, who teed off in the third-to-last group on Thursday, still managed to persevere – firing a 63 that earned him a tie for the overnight lead with Erik Compton. The former Florida All-American has played six holes in the second round, though, and only has five pars and a bogey to show for it.
The rookie needs a good week for several reasons. He is on the bubble for the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup at No. 126 in the standings, and Every stands 136th on the money list in the quest to keep his card. The magic number in each case is 125. – Helen Ross
