Wind playing havoc with Woods

How bad was Tiger Woods' approach shot on the par-4 fourth? Bad enough to elicit a club drop as the wedge again barely reached the front of the green, this time from the middle of the fairway. To his credit, Woods two-putted for par to the back left pin, but clearly he's having all sorts of trouble figuring out the wind, which is gusting in the 20-mph range. Jason Bohn, meanwhile, nearly holed his approach before making birdie. -- Brian Wacker

Woods, Bohn struggling so far

Jason Bohn's victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans must feel like forever and a day ago right now. After a bogey on the opening hole, Tiger Woods' playing partner added a double bogey on the par-3 third, where his tee shot found the bunker, his next the back fringe and two shots later the hole. Woods didn't fare much better on No. 3, where his tee shot barely reached the green before be three-putted for bogey. Woods got distracted by the shadow of a bird flying overhead right as he took his first putt, then he missed the one coming back. -- Brian Wacker

Bohn keeps riding the momentum

Live Report Image

Jason Bohn doesn't have much of a record at TPC Sawgrass. He'd never even broke 70 in 14 rounds at the Stadium Course heading into the 2010 event.

That all changed Thursday. And it showed the power of momentum.

Bohn, still riding the high of his upset victory in New Orleans two weeks ago, shot a 67 that would have been better had he not butchered the par-4 14th. Having teed off on the 10th, Bohn was 1 over after he duck-hooked his drive on the 14th into the water.

That is when things got interesting. Bohn roared through the next three holes with birdies, including one at the island 17th when when stuck his tee shot to seven feet. Three hours later, he holed out a birdie on the par-5 ninth to finish the day just one behind early leader J.B. Holmes.

"I just made one mistake off the tee," Bohn said. "It cost me a double bogey. But to make seven birdies on this golf course, I am extremely pleased."

Things will be tougher for Bohn on Friday. He has to wait until 1:18 p.m. ET to tee off.
