MORE TOP 100: Back to No. 32 | Forward to No. 30 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Bill Haas had a 2012 season of highs and lows -- winning for the fourth time in three years but missing a chance to become the first FedExCup champion to return to East Lake when he dropped from 28th to 32nd in the standings after the BMW Championship. Two top 10s in three offseason events, though, took some of the sting away and gave Haas momentum for 2013.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Haas closed with a 69, then waited on the range as Phil Mickelson and Keegan Bradley both birdied the 18th hole at Riviera to force a three-way playoff. The former Wake Forest standout ended the proceedings with a birdie on the second playoff hole. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: After winning the FedExCup in 2011, it would only be natural if Haas was a little disappointed in his 2012 season. There's no reason for any regrets. Haas was a tournament winner and ranked in the top 100 of every meaningful statistic. It says something about your game when you win $2.3 million and that's a drop-off from the previous season. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Began the year much like he put the finishing touches on his previous season en route to the FedExCup title in 2011, but after a playoff victory at the Northern Trust Open, he recorded only one more top 15 the rest of the way. Made only 23 starts, a career low in seven seasons. With that in the rearview mirror, it's time to piggyback him again in salary gamers at $2.349 million. He turned 30 in 2012. -- Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert

No. 32 Vijay Singh

Live Report Image
Stan Badz/PGA TOUR

To preview the 2013 PGA TOUR season, PGATOUR.COM is counting down the Top 100 Players to Watch in 2013. For an archive page with the top 100 players and for an explanation on how the list was compiled, click here .

MORE TOP 100: Back to No. 33 | Forward to No. 31 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Vijay Singh turns 50 on Feb. 22 but don't expect him to head over to the Champions Tour just yet. The World Golf Hall of Famer hasn't won on TOUR since 2008, when he earned three titles, but with five top 10s last year, he knows he can still compete.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Let's pick the Frys.com Open, which was Singh's 500th start on the PGA TOUR. He closed with three rounds in the 60s on the way to a tie for fourth -- his low of the year and his fourth top-10 in his last eight starts to send Singh to the offseason with momentum. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: Vijay is going to be eligible for the Champions Tour in 2013 but I think we'll see plenty of him on the PGA TOUR. Why not? Singh was in position to win several times including the PGA Championship. He had trouble closing out tournaments during the final round and has to improve on his putting. Singh ranked 170th in strokes gained-putting and is 150th in final-round scoring average. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Since he'll turn 50 before the conclusion of the West Coast Swing, he sets up as one of the most intriguing possibilities of the year. Even if he shares time on the Champions Tour as expected, he'll be coming off a season in which he made 27 starts on the PGA TOUR, so that's a hit we can absorb. Recorded four top 10s in his last nine starts beginning with a T9 at the British Open. His putting is cause for concern, but he'll start the new year with an active streak of 12 consecutive cuts made. I also like his price tag of $1.586 million in salary games. Wouldn't be surprised if he can transfer success with the 50-and-older crowd into a boost of confidence. -- Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert

No. 33 Nicolas Colsaerts

Live Report Image

To preview the 2013 PGA TOUR season, PGATOUR.COM is counting down the Top 100 Players to Watch in 2013. For an archive page with the top 100 players and for an explanation on how the list was compiled, click here .

MORE TOP 100: Back to No. 34 | Forward to No. 32 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Nicolas Colsaerts posted a pair of top 10s in nine starts on the PGA TOUR in 2012, earning enough money as a non-member to finish among the top 125 on the money list to secure his card. The big-hitting man from Belgium has won twice on the European Tour in as many years, including the 2012 Volvo World Match Play where he beat Graeme McDowell in the finals, so he's proven to be a quick study.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: This will be Colsaerts' first season on the PGA TOUR but the 30-year-old will hardly need an introduction to golf fans in the United States. Not after he made eight birdies and an eagle in his match with Lee Westwood as the two beat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker in the Ryder Cup. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: Now here's a player that will be fun to watch in 2012. He averaged 315.2 yards per drive and made enough money for PGA TOUR membership in just nine events. Colsaerts has the rare combination of length and a good touch around the greens. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Having accepted membership in 2013 via the top 125 in non-member earnings, he'll be able to set his schedule. However, it remains to be seen what route he'll take as it concerns his agenda abroad. Gamers that have attended this rodeo before understand that it's one thing to emerge amid few expectations, but it's another to reset and do it all over again in the spotlight. I love his swagger, which is to say that he seems to have a short memory, and that's valuable in our world. If your salary game doesn't raise his minimum, plug him in at $677K and collect. -- Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert

No. 34 Carl Pettersson

Live Report Image
Redington/Getty Images

To preview the 2013 PGA TOUR season, PGATOUR.COM is counting down the Top 100 Players to Watch in 2013. For an archive page with the top 100 players and for an explanation on how the list was compiled, click here .

MORE TOP 100: Back to No. 35 | Forward to No. 33 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Carl Pettersson had already won four times on TOUR but the 2012 season, when he added a fifth, was certainly his most consistent. If he can continue to build on that success -- where he had one win, two seconds and one third among his six top-10s -- he'll leave Jesper Parnevik behind as the winningest Swede on TOUR.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Pettersson fell short in his last-ditch bid to earn a Masters invitation, finishing second to Hunter Mahan at the Shell Houston Open. Two weeks later, though, the N.C. State product made sure he'd be at Augusta National in 2013 when he won the RBC Heritage by five strokes over Zach Johnson. Petterson birdied three of his first five holes that Sunday. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: Carl is one of the harder workers on TOUR. He received a very tough ruling in the final round of the PGA Championship and still finished third. Pettersson is very good with the long putter, ranking 21st in strokes gained-putting. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: The Swede has been teasing us for years that a season like 2012 was possible, so that he finally consummated on the trend was incredibly fulfilling. As one of the most underrated short-game artists in the game, it stands to reason that he'll back it up in 2013 (assuming he wins at least once, which is an unfair demand). In his 10 years on the PGA TOUR, he's averaged 28.7 starts per with no fewer than 26 in any one season. He's also survived at least 20 cuts in eight of his last nine. -- Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert

No. 35 Robert Garrigus

36 | Forward to No. 34 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Robert Garrigus did everything but win last year as he posted four runner-up finishes on TOUR (and another at the unofficial CIMB Classic) on the way to career-highs in earnings and FedExCup points. Already one of the biggest hitters on TOUR, Garrigus improved from 72nd to seventh in GIR and 105th to 23rd in scoring average. If he can continue putting himself in position, that second win will come.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Those five runner-up finishes were impressive, particularly the one at the RBC Canadian Open where Garrigus held a one-stroke lead entering the final round and had a birdie putt on the 72nd hole that would have forced a playoff with Scott Piercy. But let's go with the tie for fourth at the BMW Championship that moved Garrigus from 31st to 20th in the FedExCup and sent him to the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola for the first time. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: Robert is honest to a fault. He is very blunt in assessing his game. Garrigus was tough on himself after losing the RBC Canadian Open. I admire his willingness to experiment -- going from a short putter, to long putter to conventional length. Garrigus is such a hard worker he will find the answer. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Five times a runner-up in 2012, including the unofficial CIMB Classic. Shattered career highs across the board, exceeding the expectations sculpted by his firepower. He adds so much character to the fantasy game beyond his impressive splits, go ahead and invest in him with equal parts head and heart. However, at $3.2 million, salary gamers should shop elsewhere. -- Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert

To preview the 2013 PGA TOUR season, PGATOUR.COM is counting down the Top 100 Players to Watch in 2013. For an archive page with the top 100 players and for an explanation on how the list was compiled, click here .

MORE TOP 100: Back to No. 37 | Forward to No. 35 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Geoff Ogilvy will be playing without a safety net this year as all of his exemptions for previous tournament wins have run out. The Aussie is too good a player not to persevere but he needs to start putting himself in contention again -- Ogilvy only had one top-10 finish last year.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: The seven-time PGA TOUR winner only missed two cuts last season but at the same time, he only broke 70 nine times in the first two rounds of his 20 starts. His scoring average before the cut dropped from 54th to 109th, as a result. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: One of my favorite players on TOUR. Maybe the best interview, Geoff offers insight you seldom get from other players. He is very smart and very talented. I tease him, that every time I see him play -- he plays well. His answer? Walk with me more often then. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: He's as overvalued as he is underrated. While he managed only one top 10 in 2012, he netted top 25s in half of his 20 starts and missed only two cuts. Perhaps the best label is that you know what you get here. He picks his spots, wiggles his way into a position to pounce, and then doesn't let go. That allows for elevated confidence for gamers in need of reliable value in the heart of their rosters. And at $1.255 million, he's on sale in salary formats.

38 | Forward to No. 36 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Martin Kaymer will be an official PGA TOUR member for the first time in his career, but the 2010 PGA champ, who has a home in Scottsdale, Ariz., figures to fit in seamlessly. He's tinkered with his swing over the last 18 months after spending eight weeks as world No. 1 but the real payoff will be when he starts contending in the big events again.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Kaymer ended the 2012 season on a positive note when he beat 11 others at the unofficial Nedbank Challenge. But his crowning achievement came in Europe's improbable come-from-behind victory at the Ryder Cup. After sitting out both sessions on Saturday, Kaymer reached out to fellow German Bernhard Langer for inspiration and then holed the 6-footer to win his Singles match with Steve Stricker that clinched Europe's record-tying comeback. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: I would expect a huge bump in confidence out of Martin following his Ryder Cup performance. He clinched the winning point for Europe after having a substandard season. The German will draw on that experience for a long time to come. Martin struggled the past couple years after attempting an ill-advised swing change in which he tried to hit a draw in an attempt to win the Masters. In 2010, Kaymer was 173rd on TOUR in strokes gained-putting. In 2012 he ranked 12th in SGP. That's an impressive leap in performance. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: It's ironic that the guy that was at the center of rumors that he'd forego his automatic berth into the Ryder Cup wound up converting the putt to clinch the victory for the Europeans. If you owned him in a keeper league, then congratulations on your timing. Not only has the German seemed to have ridden the wave of the euphoria at Medinah, but he's giving the PGA TOUR a go for the first time in 2013. That means that you can expect a career high in starts. He's also an automatic purchase in salary games at $576K.

39 | Forward to No. 37 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: The story of Kyle Stanley's 2012 campaign can basically be written over two weeks. He'll need to play more consistently next year -- Stanley only had three top 20s in his next 25 events -- if he is to build on his breakthrough victory.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Stanley fought back tears after he squandered a three-shot lead on the 72nd hole at the Farmers Insurance Open and ended up losing to Brandt Snedeker on the second playoff hole. Seven days later he was similarly emotional -- only this time the tears were of joy after overcoming an eight-stroke deficit to win the Waste Management Phoenix Open with a final-round 65. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: What a wild swing of emotion he had in just seven days. From losing the lead in at the Farmers in San Diego to winning the Waste Management Phoenix Open the next Sunday. How sure was CBS announcer Gary McCord that Stanley would win in San Diego? He had left the course and had to make a U-turn and hustle back to his broadcast position for the playoff. Kyle is a long hitter who spent the off-season honing his short game. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Met the grade in salary games with a bump of over $800K from 2011, but after that crazy fortnight on the West Coast Swing, he couldn't find the handle of his putter and didn't log another top 25 the rest of the year. The proper reminder here is that he's just 25, so he's entitled to a long leash. Just don't be surprised if your opponent plucks him from the talent pool sooner than his value demands.

40 | Forward to No. 38 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Aaron Baddeley will likely spend the offseason working on his iron play as he dropped from 97th to 190th on TOUR in GIR -- dipping more than seven percentage points. His scoring average dipped nearly a stroke, while his strokes gained-putting improved 26 spots. Put it all together again and that fourth TOUR win can't be far off.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: The tie for eighth at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational wasn't Baddeley's highest finish of the year -- that joint fourth at Pebble Beach was. But the two 66s at Firestone, coupled with the caliber of the field, had to be a confidence boost. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: I think Aaron might have the best putting stroke on TOUR. He can get on a roll where everything seems to drop. He is a very family oriented and very well respected among fellow players. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: Although he regressed severely with his irons, there were enough signs that it's again time to buy in at $1.215 million. In addition to top 10s at Muirfield Village and Firestone, he ranked eighth in strokes gained-putting and seventh in birdie-or-better percentage. For all intents and purposes, it was about as bad a year as he could have. Entering his 11th season on the PGA TOUR, but won't turn 32 until March, so the Aussie is entering his prime.

41 | Forward to No. 39 | Top 100 archive

2013 PREVIEW: Jonas Blixt managed to put himself in the conversation for PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year despite missing more than two months with a rib injury when he won the Frys.com Open. The Swede was just starting to acclimate himself with three straight top 10s before his injury -- a healthy 2013 could be an interesting one.

2012 DEFINING MOMENT: Blixt delighted his siblings, here in the States on holiday, when he fired four sub-70 rounds, including a 68 on Sunday, to win the Frys.com Open. Two make-or-break FedExCup Playoffs events -- one of which included a 5-footer on the 71nd hole at The Barclays to advance -- no doubt contributed to Blixt's solid performance in the fall as he tied for third the week prior to his inaugural victory. –- Helen Ross, PGATOUR.COM

ALBERS’ QUICK TAKE: He told me his putter is his secret weapon. Well it's not secret anymore. Blixt was second on TOUR in strokes gained-putting. He did not have a three putt the entire week in winning the Frys.com Open. Blixt had a great sand save that week on the 16th hole on Sunday and ranked first on TOUR in bunker saves, getting up and down 65 percent of the time. -- Fred Albers, SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio

BOLTON’S FANTASY OUTLOOK: While most will remember his blistering beginning to the Fall Series, it's important to circle a stretch in late April and throughout May during which he finished no worse than T13 in four starts, thus planting seeds for the future harvest that was realized. After sitting out several weeks due to a rib injury, he didn't miss a cut in his last seven starts. His wicked short game can play anywhere, so any lumps he takes will be likely due to unfamiliarity with host courses. -- Rob Bolton, PGATOUR.COM Fantasy expert
