    • Vijay Singh, Adam Scott, Sergio Garcia Latest Threesome to Commit for Fifth Wachovia Championship

    CHARLOTTE N.C., March 26, 2007

Three more of the world's top ranked players - Vijay Singh, Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia - today announced their intentions to compete in the fifth Wachovia Championship, April 30 - May 6 at Quail Hollow Club.

Currently, seven of the top eight players in the world will be coming to Charlotte setting the stage for what could be the strongest field in the Wachovia Championship's brief history.

"To have a strong core group of commitments such as this indicates to us that players are starting to think about the Wachovia Championship earlier than in the past," said Executive Director Kym Hougham. "We have had players and wives contacting us earlier than ever before to make arrangements for lodging and other travel needs. One of our goals has always been to make the world's best players eager to get back to Charlotte and it is rewarding to see that happening this year."

Defending champion and world No. 2 Jim Furyk will attempt to become the first player to successfully defend his title against other players who currently hold a spot in the top level of the World Golf Rankings. Joining Furyk are Phil Mickelson, Henrik Stenson, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen along with 2005 champion Singh, Australian Scott and Spain's Garcia.

Ten of the top 13 players in the world have also committed and several players in the top 20 in the world are scheduled to compete. Included in that group are Luke Donald, Trevor Immelman, Charles Howell III, Nick O'Hern, Davis Love III, and Jose Maria Olazabal.

Tickets for the 2007 edition of the Wachovia Championship are on sale. A limited number of Weekly Books, Practice Packs and Thursday tickets are available.

Weekly Books are available for $140, a Practice Pack that consists of daily tickets for Monday's Pro-Am along with Tuesday's practice day and the Wednesday's Pro-Am is available for $25 and Thursday tickets are $40 each.

For the first time, the cost of parking at authorized tournament lots as well as shuttle service to and from Quail Hollow Club is included in the ticket price for the April 30 - May 6 PGA TOUR event.

Proceeds from the 2007 Wachovia Championship will benefit Teach For America, a national education foundation that provides a corps of outstanding recent college graduates of all academic majors who commit to teach for two years in underserved urban and rural public schools. In four years, the Wachovia Championship has donated $5.7 million to charities.

The Wachovia Championship's $6.3 million purse guarantees the winner in excess of $1 million. In 2005, the Wachovia Championship signed an agreement with the PGA TOUR to hold the event in Charlotte through the year 2010.
