As successful as the Valero Texas Open was "inside the ropes," the most fulfilling aspect is the event's impact "outside the ropes." Thanks to growing support from the community, the 2014 Valero Texas Open, along with the Valero Benefit for Children, raised $9 million which was distributed to hundreds of worthy charity organizations; positively impacting communities near and far. This incredible effort brings the Texas Open's total charitable contribution to $95 million - $90.5 million of which has been raised since 2002 when Valero became the tournament's title sponsor.
The Valero Texas Open's Birdies for Charity®, a fundraising program designed in 1997, gives participating charities and schools a unique platform to engage potential donors and generate contributions. A no-cost program, Birdies for Charity, gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organizations.
Funds are generated by soliciting pledges from individuals and corporations. Birdies for Charity is like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, participants make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. The 2014 Valero Texas Open had 1,784 birdies made, so a pledge of $0.01 yielded a donation of $17.84. Donors also have the ability to make a one-time donation with the flexibility to pay in advance or to be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible, thanks to the Valero Texas Open's non-profit 501(c)3 status.
Spectators can make a donation to a participating Birdies for Charity organization all the way through tournament week. Help support your favorite charity or school through Birdies for Charity at: http://www.ValeroTexasOpen.com/birdies
Valero Texas Open is proud to bring back its Charity Pavilion, located in Fan Fest at the main spectator entrance. The Charity Pavilion will showcase a visual representation of the charities that benefit from tournament proceeds through Birdies for Charity and the Benefit for Children. We will continue to celebrate our Drive to $100 Million for Charities as we approach this significant milestone for the Valero Texas Open and Benefit for Children is nearing.
Donors who make a donation prior to tournament week are encouraged to attend Thursday - Sunday and check in at the Birdies for Charity registration table within the Charity Pavilion to be entered into a drawing for a brand-new Ford Mustang, compliments of our partners at the South Texas Ford Dealers. Spectators that make a contribution onsite will also be entered into the drawing. Donors who register will receive one entry per day, Thursday - Sunday (i.e. when a donor attends all four days and registers their attendance each day, they will receive four entries into the drawing). The winner will be announced Friday, April 17.
Chip In for Schools is a fundraising program initiated by the Valero Texas Open in 1997, to help participating schools to earn money for their school programs by selling advance tickets to the Valero Texas Open, scheduled for March 26-29, 2015 at TPC San Antonio.
Patrons can purchase Good Any One Day general admission tickets for $20 while $15 of each ticket purchased thru Valero Texas Open's Chip In for Schools campaign will support the participating school of their choice. Simply purchase Good Any One Day tickets online and type in the promo code of the school you want to support. This is a great deal compared to $25 at the gate and knowing $15 will go to a school program. Each ticket is good for any one day (Thursday-Sunday).
