Charitable Giving

As successful as the Valero Texas Open was "inside the ropes," the most fulfilling aspect is the event's impact "outside the ropes." The Valero Texas Open is always driven by its charitable mission - to give back to the community. In the tournament's previous 92-year history through 2014, $94.5 Million had been raised for charity -- $90.5 Million of which had been raised since Valero became the title sponsor in 2002. The 2015 tournament raised $10.4 million for charity, making us proud yet humbled to become only the fourth PGA TOUR event to eclipse the $100 Million milestone in funds raised for charity.

Birdies for Charity

The Valero Texas Open's Birdies for Charity®, a fundraising program designed in 1997, gives participating charities and schools a unique platform to engage potential donors and generate contributions. A no-cost program, Birdies for Charity, gives 100% of the funds raised back to the participating organizations.

Funds are generated by soliciting pledges from individuals and corporations. Birdies for Charity is like a walk-a-thon, but instead of donating per mile, participants make a pledge for every birdie made at the Valero Texas Open. The 2014 Valero Texas Open had 2,103 birdies made, so a pledge of $0.01 yielded a donation of $21.03. Donors also have the ability to make a one-time donation with the flexibility to pay in advance or to be billed after the tournament. Donations are accepted from anywhere around the world and are tax deductible, thanks to the Valero Texas Open's non-profit 501(c)3 status.

Spectators can make a donation to a participating Birdies for Charity organization all the way through tournament week. Help support your favorite charity or school through Birdies for Charity at: http://www.ValeroTexasOpen.com/birdies

Valero Texas Open is proud to bring back its Birdies for Charity Donation Station, located in Gatorade Fan Fest at the main spectator entrance. Donors who make a donation prior to tournament week are encouraged to attend Thursday - Sunday and check in at the Donation Station to be entered into a drawing for a two-year lease on a brand-new Ford Mustang, compliments of our partners at the South Texas Ford Dealers. Spectators that make a contribution onsite will also be entered into the drawing. Donors who register will receive one entry per day, Thursday - Sunday (i.e. when a donor attends all four days and registers their attendance each day, they will receive four entries into the drawing). The winner will be announced Friday, May 13.

In addition, all donors who stop by the Donation Station will receive this year's official Valero Texas Open Fiesta medal as a token of appreciation for your contribution, support and attending the Valero Texas Open. We look forward to seeing you this April!
