    • TOUR Championship raises $1.3 million for charity

ATLANTA -Tournament officials announced today at East Lake Golf Club that THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola raised $1.3 million for charity in 2007, the highest figure in the event's history.  These funds will be donated to the East Lake Foundation and both national and local First Tee organizations.

To date, the tournament has contributed more than $7.7 million to local charities since the event began in 1998.

"The PGA TOUR and THE TOUR Championship are dedicated to giving back in the communities where we play," said Todd Rhinehart, THE TOUR Championship Executive Director. "Through the efforts of our incredible volunteer force and with the dedication of The Coca-Cola Company as our tournament sponsor, we are able to provide significant support to outstanding charitable organizations like the East Lake Foundation and The First Tee."

The East Lake Foundation ( collaborates with public and private partners to offer Atlanta's East Lake residents opportunities to build a better future through education for children and adults, affordable housing, job readiness and connections with the broader community.

The First Tee is a World Golf Foundation initiative dedicated to providing young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop, through golf and character education, life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. The intent is to offer opportunities for improvement in the quality of life and create a platform where children can increase their potential for success.

Unlike any other professional sport, the PGA TOUR relies on 80,000 volunteers a year to run its events, and nearly all of the 100-plus tournaments are structured as non-profit organizations designed to donate 100 percent of net proceeds to charity.

"As the presenting sponsor of The TOUR Championship, Coca-Cola helps make a difference in the local East Lake community while bringing one of the premier events in golf to Atlanta," said Kasia Horner, Sports Marketing, Coca-Cola North America. "Our support of The TOUR Championship helps the East Lake Foundation build a better neighborhood and The First Tee promote positive, active lifestyles for young people."

"We are thankful for the ongoing support THE TOUR Championship provides the East Lake Foundation and The First Tee of East Lake," said Carol Naughton, East Lake Foundation Executive Director. "This year's contribution allows us to build on the community's success by continuing to offer the best in housing, education and community programming so the people of East Lake can seize opportunities to build a better life."
