This hole offers a drive to the widest fairway on the course but one that presents the player with several challenges. A creek that crosses the fairway beyond the landing area spills into a lake that guards the entire left side of the landing area. Trees line the right side of the fairway, but again, this is the widest fairway on the course so most will be playing from the short grass. Because the second shot is uphill, the bunker actually appears to be very close to the putting surface when, in fact, it is some 15 yards short of the green. This optical illusion makes the green appear much closer than it really is, adding an element of confusion to the planning and execution of the approach shot.
