Jersey City, N.J. (July 10, 2013) -- The Barclays 2013 is proud to once again give New York and New Jersey charities the opportunity to participate in TICKETS Fore CHARITY™, a unique fundraising initiative designed to improve the quality of life in the communities where PGA TOUR tournaments are held. The Barclays, the first event in the FedExCup Playoffs, will feature the top 125 players on TOUR, Aug. 20-25 at Liberty National in Jersey City, N.J.
Through TICKETS Fore CHARITY, The Barclays is providing 501(c)(3) organizations with the opportunity to promote tournament tickets to benefit their organization. Best of all, 100 percent of the net proceeds from the ticket sales (net proceeds exclude tax or processing fees) will go to charity: 75 percent to the charity promoting the tickets; and 25 percent to The First Tee of Metropolitan New York. The First Tee is an initiative of the World Golf Foundation aimed at positively impacting the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
“This is an incredible opportunity to raise unlimited funds for participating charities and there are absolutely no costs to the organizations,” said The Barclays Executive Director Peter Mele. “Fans will have an opportunity to witness the very best the PGA TOUR has to offer and generate revenue for charities in New York and New Jersey during a time when these organizations need our help more than ever. We’d like to invite charities throughout the area to join us in enhancing and enriching our local communities by participating in TICKETS Fore CHARITY.”
The TICKETS Fore CHARITY 2013 program was launched in April at a charity reception at Liberty National, which was attended by more than 40 representatives from New York and New Jersey charities. In 2011 and 2012, more than $470,000 was generated for local charities, and the tournament has set a goal of $350,000 for 2013. As of today, 80 charities have officially signed up to participate in the program. For a complete listing of participating charities, please see the list below.
There are two types of tickets available through TICKETS Fore CHARITY: a weekly grounds ticket for $125; and a good-any-one-day grounds ticket for $55. The weekly grounds ticket is valid for each day of the tournament from Tuesday, August 20, through Sunday, August 25. The good-any-one-day grounds ticket provides access for any one day of the tournament from Tuesday, Aug. 20-Sunday, Aug. 25. Tickets can be purchased at www.buytfc.com.
The PGA TOUR, its players and tournaments support more than 3,000 charities nationwide. These local and national organizations benefit a variety of causes, positively impacting the lives of millions in the communities where PGA TOUR tournaments are held. In 2012, The Barclays donated $1.4 million to local charities.
