Commerce Bank Championship

The Commerce Bank Championship returns to Long Island with a new date, June 25-July 1, 2007. The tournament will once again be played at the Red Course at Eisenhower Park, East Meadow,NY.

As a volunteer you have the opportunity to make an impact on Long Island charities as well as go "inside the ropes" to help put on the only Champions Tour event in the New York metroplitan area. Volunteers are needed to assist with all aspects of the event and work together in committees including: Marshaling, Transportation, Scoring, Pro-Am, Admissions, Player Services and Corporate Hospitality.

2007 Commerce Bank Championship Committees:

Admissions / Will Call: Staff the admissions gate, ensure that all spectators have the proper tickets for entry and that previous ticket buyers can pick up their tickets.

Announcers: Announce the Professionals and Pro-Am players to the spectators as they tee off and when they walk up the 18th green. A strong voice is desired.

Carts: Inventory, maintenance and distribution of carts to tournament staff & officials.

Ecology: Help keep the grounds clear. Operate cart and patrol the fairways to empty trash receptacles.

Finance: Managing the finance office, cashing approved checks for Champions Tour professionals, caddies and authorized personnel, and accounting for on-site revenue generated by the Tournament. Accounting or banking experience is required.

Handicap Services: Provide transportation for disabled spectators to and from the bus drop at the main entrance to designated areas on the golf course.

Hospitality: Check credentials and assist sponsors and their guests in hospitality areas. Assist with special event functions (possible evening hours needed). Customer relations experience desired.

Laser Operators: Record golfers' shots by using surveying style laser.

Leaderboard: Update scores and leaders on the on-course leaderboards.
JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS AGE 12 TO 18 ARE WELCOME TO APPLY.

Marshals: Control gallery activities and noise levels at all tees, greens, fairways, and practice areas, including driving range. Returning Marshals may request specific holes.

Media Center: Update the magnetic leaderboard, read to the calligraphers,and collect scorecards at the 9th and 18th holes for scanning. JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS AGE 12 TO 18 ARE WELCOME TO APPLY.

Merchandise Tent (new for 2007): Assist shoppers with the purchase of logoed apparel in the on-site merchandise tent.

Office Support: Assist Tournament staff with phone calls, mailings and general office needs prior to and throughout Tournament Week.

Player Services: Register Champions Tour professionals, handle entry fees and provide local information. Customer relations experience desired.

Practice Range: Set up and control access to the driving range. Stock and provide practice balls to the players. Distribute nameplates.
JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS AGE 12 TO 18 ARE WELCOME TO APPLY.

Pro-Am: Assist Tournament staff with amateur registration, gift pack assembly, golf bag handling and distribution.

Special Events: Assist with Champions Tour fan features, the Family Fun Pavilion, and special spectator events.

Standard Bearer: Accompany each group of players with a 5 lb. sign to identify each player and his score. JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS AGE 12 TO 18 ARE WELCOME TO APPLY.

Transportation: Transport players and their guests to and from airports, hotels, and course. Cars will be provided. Must be able to work variable hours. Drivers are required to work on Sunday afternoon and evening of tournament week. Applicant must be 25 years of age or older with a clean driver's license.

Volunteer Services: Package volunteer uniforms, sell additional merchandise to volunteers and dispatch on-call volunteers to areas needing assistance.

Walking Scorers: Record the player, shot location, lie, stance, and club via a pen-based Palm Pilot. Familiarity with golf scoring is essential. Must be comfortable talking on a radio. All walking scorers must work either Wednesday or Thursday.
