Language: Spanish is the official language. English is widely spoken in most tourist areas.

Currency and Exchange: The Dominican Republic Peso is the local currency, although US Dollars are accepted in most locations. The exchange rate is around $1 USD = RD$ 33.

Credit Cards and ATM's: Visa and MasterCard are the most widely accepted credit cards. ATM's are not easy to find and the Cirrus system is not compatible everywhere.

Voltage: 110V (same as Canada and US)

Water: It is recommended that you drink bottled water. It can be purchased in the hotel's shop and in grocery stores. Ice and drinking water served in hotels is made from purified water.

Weather: The weather in Cap Cana is the reason, aside from being located on the most beautiful beach in the world, that this is the best tourist destination in the Carribean. There is very little seasonal temperature difference with highs averaging 90 F at midday and 72 F at night. The temperature rarely falls below 65 F at night or climbs above 95 F during the day.
