Since 1999 northern Nevada charities have benefited to the tune of $2.5 milllion dollars thanks to the goodwill and community outreach of the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation.
In 2013, the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation was honored to have its charitable nominee, The Children's Cabinet, named the PGA TOUR's Charity of the Year. In addition to incredible media coverage regarding this outstanding nonprofit organization, The Children's Cabinet also received a $30,000 donation from the PGA TOUR so that they may continue their work in the Reno/Tahoe community.
Reno-Tahoe Open Executive Director Jana Smoley noted, "Giving back is the number one mission of the PGA TOUR and the Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation. As the tournament continues to grow northern Nevada charities are directly impacted. The community has been wonderful in supporting the tournament from the beginning and it's all made possible by the contributions from our sponsors, enthusiastic fans and our dedicated volunteers."
Northern Nevada Charities that have received support from the tournament include:
"The Reno-Tahoe Open is proud to give back and support the community in every way possible," said John Sande III, Reno-Tahoe Open Foundation chairman "And as we set our goals even higher for 2013, we look to the entire community to support the tournament through corporate sponsorships, ticket sales and word of mouth support. It's a win-win for the entire community when we're able to provide more support for area non-profits."
