As you know, a tournament is only as good as its volunteers and I hope that you will join us in making this inaugural event a huge success.  The 2006 PalmettoPride Classic will need approximately 700 volunteers to be successful.  Listed below you will find brief descriptions of the various volunteer opportunities available prior to and during the tournament. You will also find a copy of the volunteer application to fill out and send in.

Volunteer Committee Descriptions

ADMINISTRATION / PRE-EVENTS
Volunteers are needed May through October of each Tournament year to help with various tournament operations, including bulk mailings, public relations, deliveries, etc... NO UNIFORM REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.

ACCOMMODATIONS
Volunteers in this committee will assist the tournament in securing donated housing for Nationwide Tour players. This group will coordinate the procurement of the housing and schedule accordingly. Daniel Island residents preferred.

Times:  Morning 8a-12:30p Afternoon 12:30p-5p (Mon-Wed)
            Morning 7a-12p Afternoon 12p-5p (Thur-Sun)

ADMISSIONS / INFORMATION
Responsible for ticket sales as well as will call at admission gates, off-course parking lots and clubhouse. In addition, volunteers will provide basic information for all spectators.

Times:  12p-5p (Mon-Tue)
           Morning 10a-2:30p Afternoon 2:30p-6:30p (Wed)
           Morning 7a-12:30p Afternoon 12:30p-5p (Thur-Sun)

BLEACHER AND SKY BOX MONITORS
This position will monitor the bleachers and sky boxes on the 16th, 17th and 18th holes and to check badges and ensure the safety guidelines are followed.

CART SHUTTLES
This committee will deliver volunteers to their assigned work area, deliver lunch/water to volunteers and media personnel on the course. This position requires knowledge of Daniel Island Golf Club and proper golf etiquette. You must know how to drive a golf cart and be at least 16 years of age.

Times:  Morning 7a-12p Afternoon 12p-5p

DRIVING RANGE
Volunteers will prepare and staff the driving range name signs and holders. In addition, volunteers will pick-up, clean and re-distribute the golf balls. This position requires you to be on your feet the entire shift.

Times:  Morning 6a-1p Afternoon 1p-8p (Tue-Sat)
           Morning 6a-12p (Sun)

ECOLOGY
Volunteers in this committee will be responsible for the removal of trash each day on the course as well as around hospitality and other outdoor areas. Volunteers will replace trash bags and maintain the trash boxes.

Times:  Morning 12p until an hour after play

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
This position will help the catering company deliver food, water and soda to concession stands located throughout the course. You must know how to drive a golf cart and be at least 16 years of age.

MARSHAL
The marshal's responsibilities consist of providing control over the gallery, ball spotting, rope and gate maintenance for every hole and moving throughout the course during every day of tournament play. This is a standing and/or walking position. May bring a folding chair to sit in. This position requires knowledge of golf.

Times:  Morning 7a-1p Afternoon 12p-until end of play

MEDIA ROOM
This committee involves registering the media, answering phones, faxing news releases and assisting the Nationwide Tour media director and staff.

           Morning 7a-12p Afternoon 12p-6p (Thur-Sun)

OPERATIONS
Volunteers in this committee will assist the tournament staff in course set-up and break down.This position is very physical. Volunteers will assist the PGA Tour Officials in set-up/take down of the Electronic Scoreboards out on the course as well.

PARKING
Volunteers will staff parking areas including player parking, VIP parking, caddie parking as well as general spectator parking.

PLAYER REGISTRATION/PLAYER RELATIONS
This committee will staff the player registration desk, register players and distribute tournament information. This volunteer committee will make tee time calls on Friday and Saturday afternoon, take messages for players, oversee player dry cleaning drop-off and pick-up and serve as headquarters for all player information. Volunteers must have good customer services and communication skills. Must be at least 21 years of age.

PRO-AM
This committee will assist with amateur registration, gift bag assembly and distribution prior to play and/or at the Pairings Party Tuesday evening.

Times:  8a-2p (Mon) 4p-8p (Tue)
           Morning 6a-12p Afternoon 12p-7p (Wed)

RUNNERS
These volunteers run player scorecards from the finishing tents to the PGA Tour Truck and leader board. This is considered a physical position.

Times:  Morning 10a-3p Afternoon 2p-6p

SCORING CENTRAL
This committee is the inside communication center that ties the PGA Rules Officials, volunteer organization and the PGAtour.com internet site together for scoring of the tournament. Computer experience necessary.

Times:  Morning 6:30a-1p Afternoon 12p-7p

SCORING TENTS
Volunteers will verify scorecards of players and walking scorers on Hole 9 and Hole 18. Volunteers will assist with marshaling volunteers and with supervision of runners.

Times:  Morning 10a-2p Afternoon 4p-conclusion of play (Thur-Fri)
           11a-conclusion of play (Sat-Sun)

SECURITY
This committee will assist with the overall security effort of the tournament. Volunteers will be used to supplement areas staffed by the police force.

Times:  Morning 7a-1p Afternoon 1a-7p

STANDARD BEARER
These volunteers will carry a sign for an entire golf round, inside the ropes, with the players. This is a very physical condition. Volunteers must be able to walk 18 holes and carry a sign.

Times:  Full Round (approximately 4-5 hours)

TRANSPORTATION
This committee will provide transportation for players and tournament VIPs during tournament week. Volunteers will provide transportation from the airport, hotels and golf course. This committee will also be responsible for the on-course evacuation plan and staffing the emergency evacuation vehicles. Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver's license.

Times:  Morning 6a-11a Mid-day 10:30a-4:30p Afternoon 4p-one hour after play

TROUBLESHOOTERS
This committee will consist of volunteers who are willing to assist in any and all areas needed throughout the tournament week.

Times:  Morning 6:30a-12p Afternoon 12p-conclusion of play

VOLUNTEER HOSPITALITY
This committee consists of uniform distribution, facilitating shift changes, volunteer check-in, covering for illness, no-shows, volunteer refreshments and appreciation party.

Times:  Morning 9:30a-1:30p Afternoon 1:30p-5:30p (Mon-Wed)
           Morning 6:30a-1p Afternoon 1p-7p

WALKING SCORER
These volunteers must be available to work an entire round and walk 18 holes wearing a fanny pack with a palm pilot, data radio, battery pack and voice radio with his/her assigned contestant. A thorough knowledge of golf is necessary for this position as scoring includes recording statistic. This is a physical position and must be able to walk 18 holes. Must be at least 18 years of age.
