2006 Volunteer Information

At least 500 volunteers will be needed from July 10-16, 2006. Below is a brief description of the various volunteer opportunities available.

MARSHAL: (Wednesday - Sunday)
The Marshal's responsibilities consist of providing control over the gallery and competent maintenance for every hole and moving throughout the course during every day of tournament play.  This is a standing and/or walking position.

WALKING SCORER:    (Thursday - Sunday)
Walking Scorers should be available to work an entire round and walk the entire 18 holes with his/her assigned contestant.  A thorough knowledge of golf is necessary for this position as scoring has changed to include statistics and computer entry. 

STANDARD BEARER:   (Thursday - Sunday)
This is considered a "physical" position, as you will carry a sign for an entire round of golf (approximately 4.5 hours).  You should be in good physical health. A standard bearer's job is to walk along with a group of pros and display their scores to the gallery.

SPECIAL EVENTS:    (Monday - Sunday)
These events are clinics and practice area contests.  Volunteers will be needed to manage crowds, hand out gifts, set-up and tear down the events, and any other activities during the special event times.

PRO-AMS:    (Wednesday)
Staffing Pro-Am registration, setting up and handing out gift packs to participants, helping set up, and any other activities associated with Pro-Am events.

ECOLOGY:    (Monday - Sunday)
Responsible for removing refuse from the entire course during tournament week and helping to maintain appearance of course and parking areas.

TRANSPORTATION:    (Sunday - Sunday)
Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver's license.  Responsible for transporting players, PGA TOUR officials, and special guests.

ADMISSIONS:    (Monday - Sunday)
Greet spectators at tournament entrance.  Responsible for tickets sales at admission gates, will call, VIP services, and general tournament information.

SECURITY:    (Monday - Sunday)
Must be at least 19 years of age.  Responsible for security at various locations throughout the course.  This important job allows you to interact with the pros, TOUR officials, media, and clubhouse personnel.  This position is necessary to maintain the professional atmosphere of the PGA TOUR.

PLAYER SERVICES:    (Monday - Sunday)
Staffing the player registration desk and locker room lounge and distributing tournament information.

MEDIA ROOM:    (Monday - Sunday)
Positions involve registering the media, answering phones, taking messages for players and media, faxing news releases, and assisting the Nationwide Tour media director and staff.

SCORING:    (Thursday - Sunday)
Verify scorecards of players and walking scorers on Holes 9 and 18.  Prepare scoring information for TOUR representatives and The Golf Channel.  Provide scoring information to scoreboards for gallery and players.

PARKING:    (Monday - Sunday)
Oversee main parking areas, including parking fees and permits.

HOSPITALITY:    (Monday - Sunday)
Greet sponsors and guests and assist in maintaining the VIP atmosphere.

VOLUNTEER SERVICES:    (Monday - Sunday)
Assist in volunteer check-in and registration. Maintain an organized environment and assist with any meals provided in the volunteer tent. 

CONSTRUCTION:    (pre-tournament - post-tournament)
Provide help to the tournament staff in preparing the golf course for the tournament and breaking down afterward.

A-TEAM:    (Monday - Sunday)
Provide assistance in all areas of the tournament as needed.

TOURNAMENT OFFICE:    (pre-tournament - Sunday)
Assist tournament staff in the on-site tournament office with ticket orders, answering phones, and general questions from spectators, sponsors, volunteers and players.
