“I think it will be a good Champions Tour event. We do well in medium-sized markets and the Endicott-Syracuse area should be a good market for us. There’s not much golf up there in upstate New York and we should be able to do well. A lot of the guys who have played in the B.C. Open for many years and have won the tournament will be coming back. That will be pretty cool.” TOM KITE/1979 B.C. Open winner “I’m excited to be going back to Endicott. I’ve played there since 1976 basically and the people have always been great. The golf course is good and I’m really looking forward to it. I think it will be a great week and I’m looking for great support from the people in the Binghamton-Endicott area.” KEITH FERGUS “That is really good news because the community loves golf and they’ve supported golf for many, many years. It’s a great golf course and the improvements they’ve made on it make for a good test of golf and you know when you have all those elements, it’s good for charity, it’s good for the community and it’s good for the Champions Tour. It will be a lot of fun.” CHIP BECK "I know over the years they’ve done an unbelievable job there at the tournament. They’ve struggled throughout the years without a major sponsor and they somehow pull it together. I think as a group we all root for them to do well and to have a successful event. That’s exciting. I always enjoyed going there to play. The people really get behind it and that is important as anything. I’ll bet they’ll turn out really well for us.” JAY HAAS/1981 B.C. Open winner “Having a Champions Tour event in Endicott is going to be a great thing. I played there many years while it was the B.C. Open and I can tell you the fairways on the course have gotten even narrower. Those trees have really grown a lot over the years and when you get out there you’re going to see quite a golf course. It looks like a bowling alley with big trees on both sides of the fairways and you’re going to have to drive it straight and have some good sharp iron play. If you don’t, you’re going to be chipping out a lot. I’ve always been amazed they were able to have such a great tournament there year after year, especially not having a sponsor. They’ve been able to raise money for charity over the years and always tried to get the best field they can. The crowds always came out and the people were always so nice there. We always used to have some good food all over town. They have a lot of good restaurants, especially the Italian food. It’s a great place for us to play. It’s going to be a lot of fun. The people always went out of their way to do whatever they could for us when we played and I think everybody is going to like us.” WAYNE LEVI/1984 B.C. Open winner “My first PGA TOUR win came there so it’s kind of a place that I held dear to my heart in that respect. It’s always been a community that has supported the PGA TOUR and now hopefully they’ll be as nice to us as they’ve been in the past. I think it will be a great area to go back to. A perfect place for us as a Champions Tour player.” GIL MORGAN/1977 B.C. Open winner |
