Fans congratulate Axley

Editor's note: Eric Axley won his first PGA TOUR title at the Valero Texas Open on Sunday. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Axley, who gets to head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship in 2007.

Eric, it was incredible to watch you play such great golf. Also to see you enjoying every minute of it. I'm proud of you. Taegan saw you and her Mommy on TV Sunday! It was great to see Cortney run out there as only she can. The only thing that would have made it better is if I'd been there. Keep it going in Mississippi! Dad

Congrats bud. I can still take you at Ridgewood! Bass

Your dad and I were talking this week in Athens. He is very proud of you. He said, "If only you could get that first big win, there would be no limits on what you could accomplish." I think he is most proud of what you have already accomplished, he loves the grandpa role! Congratulations! Go Eric! Jim Goforth

Eric, Congratulations! It was fun to watch yesterday. You deserve it. Thanks for representing Green Meadow so well. I guess now MB will be asking for strokes. Tom Looney

Congrats Eric...we followed you for a few holes at Milwaukee this year. We met your wife Cortney and can testify she is drop-dead gorgeous and friendly as can be. We're happy for you both on this first win. T.J.

Congratulations Eric! I am so very pleased that you have won your first of many PGA TOUR events yet to come. I was a marshal at the 84 Lumber Classic and you were kind enough to give me your autograph on the ninth fairway and it is now proudly displayed in my den. Good luck in the future Eric, you have real talent! Frank Newman

I was really pulling for ya Ax. Got a little worried on 14 but very glad to see you come through. Congratulations! Scott Hunt

Ax, Great win today, enjoy your two-year exemption. Next time you're in the lead on Sunday with lots of TV time, please, please don't wear that pink crap! Best of luck on the TOUR, Mike Petrenko

Ax, Congrats, well-deserved win and look forward to many more. Pink is for sure the new black! Your buddies from Sligo

Eric, It's great to have you win your first PGA TOUR victory at my home tournament. I'm sorry I wasn't there to see the end and be in the interview room, but I had some family business to attend to. Congratulations and I look forward to seeing you hoisting more trophies in the future. Regards, Tony Vaught

Eric, I caddied for Simon Allan in Rocky Mount, N.C. when we played with you in the Monday Qualifier for the Nationwide event you eventually won. Congratulations from Simon and I for a job well done. Simon and his wife will be in Maui celebrating their 3rd wedding anniversary during the Mercedes Championship and look forward to watching you play. Your 64 in Rocky Mount was an indication of the quality of your play and now "The Creme" has risen to the top. Take care and "Go Gettem". Bill Eskridge

Ax-Man Fifteen years ago we were playing high school golf matches together and now I'm watching you win on the big stage! You have arrived! Congrats! Todd-Rod

Following your winning putt on 18 at the Valero Texas Open, your wife ran out and jumped into your arms. Her action described it all. Congratulations to you both. Jack Perry

Eric, Congratulations on your win today! It was a most-deserving victory for you in many ways. Don't let this be the last one! Seems like I know you personally, since I've heard so much about you from my nephew Craig. Again, congrats! Owen Plank

Eric, Great performance and congratulations on what should be the first of many victories on TOUR. Keep piling them up so that you can add a little spark to the Ryder Cup team at Valhalla in '08. I look forward to seeing you and Cortney again in Houston and hope that you will be playing the Shell Houston Open in '07 as preparation for what I hope will be a trip to Augusta. I look forward to meeting your child next year. My home remains available--if you would again like to stay here, that decision will be up to you. In the meantime, I look forward to seeing your name often at the top of the leaderboard. John Fieler, MD Houston Golf Association

Congratulations, I work with your mom and we follow your tournaments every week. Great job hanging on and finishing with a birdie. Joe Woody

I was your standard bearer for the 3rd round of the 2006 Valero Texas Open. After you carded a 63 with seven birdies, I told my walking scorer, "This guy is going to win if he keeps playing like this." Well, enough said. You were a true gentleman and we are proud to have you as our champion of this year's Texas Open. We wish you continued success. Congratulations! Lonnie Ginsberg

Congratulations from Elizabethton, Tenn. I always pull for the guys that have played at ETSU and I am also partial to lefties. May you have many more PGA TOUR victories. Shelby Miller

Well done Eric. I placed a small wager on you before the tournament started, as I had followed your improving game. You played tough and now we have extra cash for a holiday--good on you mate from over here in Sydney. Keep it up! Matthew
