By Mike Weir Editor's note: Canadian Mike Weir will be writing a diary during the Canadian Open. He is looking to capture his national title for the fist time. This is his second installment. This week certainly didn’t turn out as I had hoped it would. Missing the cut in any event is no fun, but when you play the way I did the last two days on a course a tough as Hamilton, it’s going to happen. The real cause for my trouble here was that I wasn’t able to keep the ball in the fairway. With the rough the way it was here, long and wet, that’s going to catch up to you. At a course like Hamilton, you can’t get away with marginal shots. The set-up here was solid and you had to play well to make birdies. This week was somewhat of a surprise to be honest. Although I scored well at the PGA Championship, my ball striking wasn’t as sharp as I knew it could be. At the Bridgestone, it started to unravel even more. But I spent some time with my coach, Mike Wilson, last week and I thought I’d ironed out most of the problems. To read more of Mike's diary, visit www.mikeweir.com |
