Editor's note: Tiger Woods won his seventh PGA TOUR title of the year on Monday at the Deutsche Bank Championship. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Woods, who now gets to head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes Championships in 2007. Five straight! Way to go Tiger, again! We are so lucky to get to watch history change almost every time you enter a tournament. What a thrill and a pleasure to watch the best golfer ever! Gary Bolding Way to go, Tiger! I live in Maine and, after many years of wanting to watch you play golf in person, I made the trip to Boston. Thank you so much for making it such a memorable experience. I was quite concerned after the rounds on Sunday, but I knew in my heart on Monday you would easily make up the three shots that you were behind. Your incredible play in the final round was more than worth the two hours it took us just to get out of the parking lot! Congratulations on number five. Can't wait for the HSBC World Match Play Championship! Linda Ames Tiger: Like Jack's late Masters win at age 46, I look forward to the day -- sometime around 2025 -- when I can say, "Tiger's back." Cabes MacRonald Congratulations Tiger, on a wonderful round of golf on day four. I was utterly amazed when I tuned in after five holes to learn that you had conquered the deficit of three strokes down when you started the day. What a start! All must agree that Vijay played an excellent round on Monday, but it was only good enough for a second-place finish. Rey Clarke Tiger, Congratulations on five big ones in a row! What a great 63 and fabulous come-from-behind victory! Also, thank you for putting the quietus on all of those geniuses who have been saying you can't come from behind to win! You are the man, period. Your fan, Jimbo Tiger, congratulations on your fifth-straight win. Just wanted to let you know you're my total inspiration. Each and every time I tee it up here in college I dream of some day walking in your shoes. We couldn't ask for a better champion and person to represent our great sport. Dan Duarte All your fans in Bermuda were glued to their TV sets on Monday to see your thrilling come-from-behind win. You never cease to amaze. Looking forward to win number six! Gary Weller I watch with fervor all because of my mom. She has watched you play since you began playing professionally. She succumbed to cancer in May of this year and would have been elated at your accomplishments so far, as I am. Because of her enthusiasm for golf, we have taken up the sport this year in her honor. Congratulations on an awesome game. JoAnne Wheeler Five in a row is truly a remarkable feat. However, the grace and the style in which this feat was accomplished are unparalleled. I have been a caddie, an avid golfer and a sometime teacher for over 50 years. The shots that have been executed during this stretch are phenomenal. You are truly a man for all seasons and all generations. Kudos and keep the streak alive! Billy Dukes I pushed my wheelchair out to Medinah for this year's PGA Championship. You may remember me. I was the African American wearing a loud Hawaiian print (white on blue) shirt and was the first along challenged row at the first tee. Your game face was on and there was little doubt among our group that you were ready for business. I was also on the 13th green when you hit that 8-iron out of the sand to within four feet and I marveled with the tens of thousands as you walked up the fairway toward the 18th green. I reside in Nashville, but Chicago is my home and watching you charge to victory was a special homecoming. Now you have won five in a row for a second time in your professional career. What we are most proud of you for, however, is the manner by which you carry yourself and as such remain an exemplary character for all of us in an age of few such personas. Walt Searcy I find great joy in watching Tiger win every time. It is history being made right in front of our faces and it is something that I'll remember the rest of my life, seeing it all happen. It is something that probably will take years to ever happen again. It's not everyday you can see greatness such as this. My father taught me how to play golf years ago but I did not continue until three years ago when I started back, totally inspired by Tiger Woods. I currently work in Afghanistan supporting our troops. Since he is my favorite athlete in the world, it gives me a boost of energy dealing with the adversity of working in such a dangerous place. Congratulations Tiger Woods, you're something really special and definitely blessed. Keneth Burrell Tiger, I always thought that the lion was King of the Jungle! Without a doubt, you are the ruler of your domain! As my late Zaidy (grandfather) would have said (he was a great golfer and Club Champion in his own right), MAN-ALIVE...5 for 5! I am still kicking myself, as I had a couple of Sunday and Monday passes waiting for me but the weather forecast scared me away from making the six-hour drive down from Montreal! Congrats on another impeccable victory and good luck at the K Club! Sincerely, David Rodman Congratulations, Tiger! Five-for-five deserves a big high five! Angel Aguinaldo Well done! My 8-year-old daughter loves to watch you play. One day she saw me wearing one of your hats and she said "Tiger Woods has a hat just like yours Daddy." Dan Mr. Woods, you are my inspiration when it comes to golf. You are sensational to watch and I hope that I can learn from continuing to watch you and maybe, just maybe, challenge you someday. At least I can challenge you in EA Sports' Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006. Congratulations on your fifth in a row! I am rooting for you to continue the streak! Chris Manning After our round on Monday, we couldn't get the tournament on the TV at the clubhouse. I called home to find out what was happening and learned you had just taken the lead. The clubhouse immediately cleared out as everyone went home to watch. Congratulations on your win, I hope you keep it going for awhile. I feel privileged to be able to watch the best ever. Dan Shipos We are lucky to be witnesses to history being made. From China, watching you play on TV in the middle of the night is an awesome experience. Congratulations on number five and here's to many more to come. Felipe Ordonez Tiger, I am simply in awe! After playing this game for seven years I cannot begin to comprehend the mindset and physical abilities required to accomplish what you have done. You have me looking forward to Thursdays and the tournaments they bring. I thank you, congratulate you and can't wait for number six! My Goodness! Cheryl Very gritty win. Just wondering, do you need more red shirts? Russell Rosenberg Keep this up and you'll win the Mercedes Championships by default. No one else will be eligible. John Vinson Absolutely a great Monday round. We went to Pebble Beach to get a glimpse of your niece. She is also a very good golfer. Congratulations to you and your family. Al Kuwata Tiger, you have no idea of what you are doing for myself and my son Sebastian (age 14). For fathers and sons to communicate, you need to have something in common and golf is IT and that is thanks to you. Because of the drive (no pun intended) you display every week, Seb is seeing you as a role model and I am ok in taking a backseat to you as my son's role model. Aside from this, you are creating some memories we can hopefully look back at in a few years as we remember the Sunday afternoons (very wet summers in the South Florida area as you well know) and recall the history you made over the past 10 years. Once again, not only do I congratulate you, but I thank you as well. JR Vidal Tiger, why not give the other guys a chance? Try playing left-handed next week! Congratulations to the most intense player I have ever seen. Keep up the good work. Joe |
