Everyone knows he has a yacht. And a wife. And two dogs.

That he went to Stanford. Wears red on Sundays. Represents Nike, American Express, Tag Heuer and Buick, to name a few.

Has a great friend in Jerry Chang and a caddie named Stevie. His given name is Eldrick. His father nicknamed him Tiger after a wartime friend, Vietnamese Lt. Colonel Nguyen ‘’Tiger” Phong.

And he’ll try anything once -- like bungee jumping or driving a race car.

But what don’t you know about the best player in the world/one of the world’s biggest superstars?

We thought you’d never ask.

He was too shy to ask Elin for a date. Fred Funk had to prod him into it.

Their first “public” appearance as a couple was at the 2002 Golf Writers Association of America dinner in Augusta, Ga. The picture is still one of the most widely-used pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Woods.

He’s really a kid. We tend to put him on a pedestal, but he’s also a kid who likes to have fun.

He can hold his breath for four minutes underwater. Scuba diver, you know.

When he goes running with his border collie Taz, he can’t keep up. So, Taz jumps and nips at his legs or rear end to keep Tiger moving.

He hasn’t flown commercial since 1998. During that last trip, his father had heart problems and Tiger wound up making the Chicago–Kagoshima-Fukuwoka-Hong Kong-Johannesburg-Sydney-Melbourne-Sydney-Los Angeles-Orlando run. No wonder he went private.

He’s loyal. His old friends are still some of his best friends.

He’s creative when it comes to presents. No flowers and chocolates for this guy. Elin gets things like dive watches and wetsuits. She gave him Taz, the border collie, for his birthday.

He’s a good mimic. Watch those moments on the putting green when he does a knock-kneed Arnold or a Jack finish.

He throws barbs and expects his targets to give it right back. Especially fun when he and his target play together and it goes on for four hours straight.

He loves practical jokes. He pulls one on you and you need to get him back. And good.

He loves adding a little something to names. Like Stevie, Dougie, Solty, Seany, Mark-O, Bonky, Steiny and Mel -- to name a few.

He may be smiling after a round, but don’t let that fool you. If he didn’t finish the way he wanted or he made a stupid bogey or double, he’s not a happy camper. Trust us.

He wore coke-bottle glasses when he was a teenager.

He imitated Steve Urkel, a character on the TV series “Family Matters,” so well, his friends called him Urkel. He hated it.

He’s very warm, very genuine.

He’s shy. Really.

He’s gracious to the younger players. He’ll go out of his way to have lunch, get to know them and answer any questions they have about professional golf.

And finally, no matter how much you think you know about him, you really don’t. He’s intensely private. Hence the name of his yacht -- Privacy.
