Editor’s note: Dean Wilson won his first PGA TOUR title on Sunday at The INTERNATIONAL. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Wilson, who now gets to head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes Championships in 2007.
Congrats Dean! We're your biggest fans (all the way from New Jersey). My
5-month-old daughter, sitting near me at the local driving range on
Sunday, was wearing the hat you autographed for her at this year's U.S. Open. Just a coincidence? We'll see, as she wears it again this
weekend during the PGA Championship! Congratulations again.
Another feather in the cap for the Brigham Young brigade. A friend of
classmate Mike Weir's is a friend of
Canada, so congratulations from north of the border on the first of many
PGA TOUR victories to come
Dean, congrats on the victory. Even though I bleed Utah Red I enjoyed
watching a Cougar win The INTERNATIONAL. I know my dad Karl Smith is
also thrilled with your win. Enjoy the victory, you deserve it.
Dean, nice going. Sometimes justice prevails! You were first known to me
as the man paired with Annika (Sorenstam) and you were very supportive
and a true gentleman with a great attitude! From then on you kept
improving and now are a fine example of a PGA TOUR winner. Keep working
hard and best wishes on developing and establishing your playing career
because, you know what? You appear to still be a true gentleman with a
great attitude and that will serve you well always. Sincerely,
Dean, a quick note of congratulations from your Friday scorer (remember,
the "other" Dean?). I'm a great fan of Tom Lehman, but I couldn't help pulling for you after the way
you turned your round around with the birdie from down the hill left on
No. 9. Then the look on your face on No. 17 after the putt went in and
you said "that was huge". Congratulations, and here's hoping this was
the first of many. Hope to see you next year in July.
Congratulations Dean! Jan has always told me about the will,
determination and desire you possessed when you were in junior golf. She
has always been impressed with your passion and desire for the game,
your will to press against the odds and your belief that you could get
it done. We've watched you over the years get closer and closer to the
title and it was great to see you pull it out against Tom. We hope that
you continue to excel in something that you love to do and that this is
simply the first of many more wins to come. Have fun, play hard and love
life. Aloha,
Kudos! Your stick-to-itiveness has been rewarded. You have been a great
addition to my fantasy team. Best wishes for the remainder of the year
and beyond.
Shaka bruddah! Fantastic to have a Hawaiian PGA TOUR winner. You
probably won't remember but my mother used to babysit for you in
Kaneohe. Looks like she did a great job! Aloha and much mahalo,
From the gang at Waialae Country Club (Home of the Sony Open in Hawaii). You da greatest, but David Ishii told me to
tell you that he's still more handsome!
Big time congratulations Dean! The Mililani Mafia was watching you on TV
and cheering you on. Way to go! With your win at The INTERNATIONAL and
Kimberly Kim's win at the U.S. Women's Amateur it was quite a weekend
for Hawaiian golf. Best wishes and good luck for the future!
Dean, the best thing about the PGA TOUR is when new winners are crowned.
It makes the TOUR exciting to know that, on any given week, consistent
play and a hot putter can prevail. Congratulations on your first of
hopefully many more wins.
Dean: Congrats. It's probably appropriate that you and Annika won on the
same day == you showed a lot of class a few years ago when you played
with her in the Bank of America Colonial .
Dean, congrats from all the guys over here in Japan. Well done on a fine
victory! Congrats,
Wow! Way to go Dean. All your old BYU pals couldn't be happier for you!
Best thing is we all know this is just the beginning. The flood gates
are officially open. Make it happen! Oh, by the way, now that you have
won $1.9 million this year on the PGA TOUR, how about reimbursing me for
all the money you won from me on the Riverside Country Club putting
green during our college days? With the stroke you have, I knew that
putt on the second playoff hole was dead! Good luck next week in the PGA
Championship.
Dean: About 80 Oahu Country Club members and guests were in the Grille
Room pulling for you. When the last putt dropped there was the loudest
cheer I had ever heard in the Club. You made Hawaii proud.
Congratulations!
Howzit bruddah Dean! I work with NW Airlines, and I've been following
your golfing career all thru your years in Japan, always watching you on
TV. You just played spectacular today, and the best is yet to come for
you! You make Hawaii so proud, and your golfing form and grace are
admired by many! Many, many congratulations to you and I look forward to
seeing you on TV and winning more tournaments to give everyone a run for
their money! Aloha to you and your family! Looks like you got home court
advantage in Maui in January! Yeehaw!
Hi Dean, I caddied for you quite a few years ago in the Tri-Cities
Nationwide Tour tournament. Just wanted to drop you a line and
congratulate you on the win. I've been following your career since I
caddied for you and it’s great to see you do so well this year and get
your first PGA TOUR win! Best wishes and stay in touch.
Way to Go Dean. I guess Lehman should pick you as a Captain’s pick, huh?
If that doesn't show him you have the game to win I don't know what
will. Good luck for the rest of the year!
Dean == Way to hang in there. You have been a very good player for a
long time, but now you stepped up and crossed the threshold. You have a
lot of fans in Chicago that are excited for you and are looking forward
to seeing you at Medinah. Best always,
Congratulations Sweet Pineapple! You were clutch!
Dean, congratulations from the professional staff at TPC Summerlin and
TPC Canyons! We were all watching and everyone knew you could do it!
Enjoy your victory and we will all see you soon!
Dean, fantastic! I follow you every week by looking at the results in
the paper, scanning from the top until I see your name. I can stop my
scan this week after reading the first name. |
