Milwaukee, WI -- Corey Pavin was named this week’s AstraZeneca Charity Challenge winner for his first-place standing entering the final round of the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. The AstraZeneca Charity Challenge, formerly known as the CRESTOR® Charity Challenge, is a season-long competition that recognizes and rewards the tournament leader entering the final round at 35 PGA TOUR events. Through the sponsorship, AstraZeneca will donate $3.5 million this year to designated health care charities and will have donated a three-year total of $9.7 million by the conclusion of the 2006 PGA TOUR season. For Pavin’s performance, AstraZeneca will donate $50,000 to the American Heart Association of Wisconsin and $50,000 to the Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC), on behalf of Pavin and the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee. “AstraZeneca’s generous donation will help the American Heart Association advance groundbreaking medical research, spread lifesaving knowledge and reach out to people of all ages,” said Michel Torbey, M.D., president of the American Heart Association’s Milwaukee Board of Directors. “Projects like the AstraZeneca Charity Challenge demonstrate AstraZeneca’s strong commitment to Milwaukee and communities throughout America.” “The Association of Black Cardiologists is proud to be recognized as a recipient of the AstraZeneca Charity Challenge,” said Dr. Gerald DeVaughn, President of the Association of Black Cardiologists. “The support of private sector health partners is critical to advancing the health and welfare of our community.
