From Michelle Wie’s agent Ross Berlin: Unfortunately, Michelle Wie became ill today during the beginning of her second round of the John Deere Classic. As she continued the round, she suffered a number of different symptoms, including stomach pains, nausea, dizziness, and breathing problems which worsened as the round continued. After the ninth hole, Michelle regrettably withdrew from the tournament. Michelle then received Emergency Medical Services, and under Illinois state law was required to proceed to a hospital for further attention and care. She was treated at the Emergency Room of the Genesis Medical Center and will soon be released. Michelle was diagnosed with heat exhaustion and is now resting and in very good spirits. Michelle and her parents are appreciative of all the assistance and support from the sponsors, organizers and officials at the John Deere Classic. In particular, she is also grateful for the loyal support from the many spectators who followed her yesterday and today at the John Deere Classic. Despite this setback, the Wies have enjoyed their week in the Quad Cities very much. |
