The 36-hole cut came at even-par 142, with 83 players making it to the weekend.

Making his 87th career start on the PGA TOUR -- and 20th of the season -- Daniel Chopra fired a 5-under 66 for the second consecutive day to move to 10-under-par 132. It marks the first 36-hole lead of his career since joining the TOUR in 2004. Chopra is making his third start at the Cialis Western Open, having missed the cut the previous two seasons.

 Daniel Chopra’s 36-hole statistics:
Driving Distance: 302.3 yards
Driving Accuracy: 20 of 28 (71.4%)
Greens in Regulation: 24 of 36 (66.7%)
Putts: 52 (28-24)
Putting Average: 1.625

Since 1991, the 36-hole leader of the Cialis Western Open has gone on to win six times, including Nick Price (1993-94), Steve Stricker (1996), Joe Durant (1998) and Tiger Woods (1999 and 2003).

Through 26 stroke-play events on TOUR this season, the 36-hole leader has gone on to win nine times.

Chopra’s 6-under-par 30 on Friday equaled the best back-nine score since the tournament moved to Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in 1991. Seven players have recorded the same score, with Vijay Singh and Fredrik Jacobson the last to do so during the final round in 2003.

Not to be outdone, Stewart Cink (64) equaled the best front-nine score in tournament history with a 6-under 29. The other 29s were posted by Paul Stankowski in 1999 (Cog Hill G&CC No. 4) and Cary Middlecoff in 1955 (Portland Golf Club). Cink --- who missed the cut in his only previous Cialis Western Open start in 1997 -- ended the day at 7 under and is in a tie for third place. A bogey on the final hole kept Cink from equaling his career-low round of 63.

Robert Garrigus and Stewart Cink both posted the round of the day with 7-under-par 64s, just one shot off of the course record of 63 set on six different occasions.

All nine of the past champions of the Cialis Western Open in the field this week made the cut, including Jim Furyk (6 under, tied for sixth), Stephen Ames (6 under, tied for sixth), Robert Allenby (5 under, tied for 12th), Jerry Kelly (4 under, tied for 20th), Joe Durant (4 under, tied for 20th), Tiger Woods (3 under, tied for 35th), Steve Stricker (3 under, tied for 35th), Scott Verplank (1 under, tied for 53rd) and Billy Mayfair (1 under, tied for 53rd).

Tiger Woods (3 under) has now made the cut in all nine starts as a professional at the Cialis Western Open. He is 10 for 11 overall, with his only miss coming as an amateur in 1995.

Despite a 1-over-par 72 on Friday, amateur Jamie Lovemark still managed to make the cut by finishing the first two rounds at 1-under-par 141. The only other amateur in the field -- Michael Schachner -- failed to make the cut.

Speaking of made cuts, Robert Damron (6 under) and Jim Furyk (6 under) will make their ninth straight weekend appearance at the Cialis Western Open. Joey Sindelar, on the other hand, finished 4 over and had his streak snapped at 11.

Nationwide Tour member Jason Dufner, who gained entrance into the field based on his victory at the LaSalle Bank Open, finished the first two rounds at 1-over-par 143 to miss the cut by one stroke.

Luke Donald, a native of Hempstead, England and resident of Evanston, Ill., fired a 4-under-par 67 to move to 5 under for the tournament. Donald, who was low medalist at the 1999 NCAA Championship while playing for nearby Northwestern University, is seeking to better his previous best outing at the Cialis Western Open -- a tie for third finish in 2004.
