• The victory for Jeff Maggert Sunday was his first PGA TOUR win since he captured the 1999 World Golf Championships–Accenture Match Play Championship on Feb. 28, 1999 -- a span of 7 years and 3 months. Last week, when Tim Herron won the Bank of America Colonial in Fort Worth, Texas, he ended a similar drought that lasted 7 years and 2 months between his victories.

• Maggert became a champion in his eighth start in this event. He tied for second in 1993, three strokes back of winner Nick Price. His standings in the FedEx St. Jude Classic over the years: 1991 - T32; 1992 - m/c; 1993 - T2; 1998 - m/c; 1999 - T36; 2001 - m/c; 2005 - m/c; 2006 - 1st

• Maggert finished the week with 99 putts (25-25-24-25), thus becoming only the second player in 2006 to complete 72 holes with less than 100 putts. The only other player to do it was Aaron Baddeley, who had 97 putts en route to a win at the Verizon Heritage in Hilton Head, S.C. Maggert had 100 putts that same week at Harbour Town and wound up tied for 17th.

• In addition to leading the field in putting this week, Maggert finished No. 1 in Driving Accuracy. Maggert hit 45 of 56 fairways (80%).

• Maggert is only the fourth player this year to come-from-behind on the final day to win. Maggert began the day three shots back of co-leaders Tim Herron and Tom Pernice, Jr. The others who rallied to win this year were: Tiger Woods (two strokes), Buick Invitational; Kirk Triplett (six strokes), Chrysler Classic of Tucson; Brett Wetterich (one stroke), EDS Byron Nelson Championship.

• Maggert’s winning score of 9-under par marks the first time since the tournament moved to TPC Southwind in 1989 that the champion did not reach double digits. The previous high score of 12 under came in the tournament’s first year here, 1989, when John Mahaffey was the winner.

• The last time the winner of the FedEx St. Jude Classic finished in single digits was 1986, when Mike Hulbert had a winning score of 8-under par.

• Rookie Daisuke Maruyama put together his best tournament of the year. The 35-year old from Japan shot a final-round 67 and wound up tied for fifth. Maruyama made only one cut in his first four starts this year but has now made 5 straight cuts. His check for $182,650 pushed him up 50 places on the money list to No. 135.

• Defending champion Justin Leonard shot a final-day 73 to wind up 1-over par for the week and tied for 22nd place.

• Richard S. Johnson followed up his playoff loss last week to Tim Herron at the Bank of America Colonial with a tied for 22nd this week.

• Kris Cox enjoyed his career-best finish this week with a tie for third. Cox had missed five straight cuts prior to his start this week. His previous career-best finish was a tie for 18th in this event in 2004. For his efforts, Cox collected $301,600, more than he had earned in his previous 38 PGA TOUR starts ($250,795).

• Zach Johnson, making his first start in this event, shot a final-round 68 and tied for fifth place.

• Players who were bogey-free Sunday: Daisuke Maruyama 67.

• Best rounds of the day: Jeff Maggert 65, Steve Flesch 67, Brent Geiberger 67, Daisuke Maruyama 67, Bob May 67.

• Here’s how the five former champions who made the cut finished:
2005 - Justin Leonard 72-69-67-73—281 (T22)
2004 - 2003 David Toms 69-67-72-71—279 (T10)
