Editor’s note: Phil Mickelson won his second Masters title Sunday at Augusta National. The victory was his second straight of 2006, as well. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Mickelson, who now gets to head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes Championships in 2007.
Congratulations Phil. I enjoyed watching you (and Freddy) play on
Sunday. Watching your swing and your routine before each shot is great
for all golfers to witness. Also, thanks for showing the world how two
pros can compete against each other at a major and still manage to have
a little fun at the same time. Best of luck the remainder of the season.
Congratulations to a wonderful champion, son, husband and father! I have
been a fan of yours since I saw you win in Texas on a Mother's Day years
ago. I saw what a fine young man you were, as well as a good golfer. You
have become the great golfer I knew you would. I am so proud of you. As
you can imagine, I am a mother and a grandmother. What a wonderful
family you and Amy have.
Phil is a great golfer, great professional and great person. He handled
himself with total respect. The best thing he did on Sunday was to have
everyone take a minute and say a prayer for Tiger Woods' father, who is
very ill. He is a great person. Congrats on winning your second Masters
and I know that there will be many more to come. You are very enjoyable
to watch in each tournament that you play. Continue your success.
Congratulations Phil. Every night in front of the TV, because I live in
Italy, but I'm very satisfied with it because the Master has been a
very, very, very fantastic win. I hope to see you on first place on the
world ranking as soon as possible. Sorry for my not perfect English. Bye
bye, Phil.
Congratulations on a well-deserved victory! I met you at a tournament
you were playing in outside of Syracuse a few years back. I was on the
tee waiting for your group and you finished first and came up to the
tee. It was just the two of us and you started talking to me and you
couldn't have been a nicer person. I'll always remember the way you
carried yourself and the way you treated the fans, first class. Enjoy a
job well done and get 'em at the Open.
What a great performance. It was a pleasure to watch you and Fred
enjoying the time together. The best was watching you with your family
after the round. That is the greatest thing that you do, show that your
family is the most important thing in your life.
Congratulations on another great win. It was as much fun watching you as
it seemed you were having. You and Fred showed what it should be like
out there. Congratulations again.
Congratulations! Though disappointed that my favourite you-know-who
didn't get his 11th major, I am truly delighted that such a fine,
gentlemanly sportsman like Phil Mickelson won! This is great not only
for golf but for the world of sports!!! Keep smiling!
Congrats on winning the Masters, but what I thought you did to win my
support is the way you handled your press conference on The Golf
Channel. It was a great lesson for my 10-year-old son. .. that although
you may be on top of the world, there are more important life lessons,
like praying for a competitor's family in time of need. A lot of class.
Great playing, Phil. Everybody is talking about the two drivers, but
what about that one putter? You rolled it better than anyone. My wife,
son, dad and I saw you at Tuesday's practice round. You gave my son
Jackson your ball when you finished on 18. He was so excited that you
won. Looking forward to the U.S. Open already.
Phil, I want to sincerely congratulate you on your second Masters title.
It could not happen to a nicer man in the world of golf. Two years ago
at the (Buick) Classic you came off the 11th green only to make a detour
before proceeding to the 12th tee. At this time you walked up to my
daughter and handed her your golf ball. She was 3 yrs old at the time,
and is now 6 and watches golf only to see you, because she knows someone
special and well-known in the world took time out to give her something
that she will always cherish. To this day she now wants to play golf and
is very interested in the game itself. For this, I want to thank you,
and wish you all the best of luck in everything you do. You are truly
and without a doubt, the people's champion!!!!!
Phil, great tournament. You are a true champion on and off the course.
It was great to see your camaraderie with Freddie "Boom Boom" Couples on
Sunday. You looked like two guys out playing a friendly match rather
than two guys battling for a Green Jacket. Nice to see you can do both
at the same time! Best wishes to you and your family!
What a great performance! I watched and cheered every hole from my
home/work in Turkey. I have followed your career and admire your
attitude and professionalism. I can't wait until the U.S. Open.
Congratulations and best wishes.
Great job, Phil. My wife and I have been pulling for you for years. (She
will only watch golf with me if you are on the leader board.) Here's
hoping that you win many more.
Hi Phil! I was once an executive in the golf industry, and was present
at a Yonex sales meeting where I had the chance to meet you as a young
professional, and we played a couple of holes of golf. I always pulled
for you and wished this for you. I was thrilled with your 2004 win, but
this was better. It was better because you strode down the last few
holes in command of your game, and life as a player. You could tell that
you belonged in the elite class of players that enjoy the rarified air
of deep personal satisfaction from having accomplished a feat so few
players ever do. You are the champion player now that has fulfilled the
childhood dream in taking your rightful place amongst the games greatest
ever players. What great things you now can confidently do. We are
fortunate to watch you play.
Way to go, Phil! I was telling everyone you would do it this year. I
even got my 8-year-old year sister to watch the final round with me. She
was cheering "Go, Phil, go" every time she saw you.
A superior display of mistake-free golf on a course where an error is
magnified 100 times! Congrats Phil. You deserved it more than anyone!
P.S. You have made my mother very happy. She loves you! :o) |
