Fans congratulate Ames

Editor’s note: Stephen Ames earned the biggest win of his career on Sunday at THE PLAYERS Championship. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Ames, who now gets to head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes Championships in 2007.

Watch highlights of Ames' victory.

Congratulations, Stephen. I've been a fan of yours ever since you started on the PGA TOUR. I'm a member of Country Hills in Calgary and have watched you play our course at one time, and your iron shots were amazingly accurate then.

Keep up the good work and good luck at the Masters.

Edgar Diaz

Stephen,
Congratulations. I watched in anticipation all day yesterday. This is so good for western Canada. I sure hope you win Canadian sports player of the year and will be looking for you to make a good run at the Masters. Remember Tiger can't drive straight with that new driver and that’s obviously no problem for you seeing your stats yesterday.

Go Canada go.

Geoff Beukema

Great job Stephen!
You were fun to watch and played incredibly. I love the fact that you stuck to your guns about waiting to talk to your family before you decide on the Masters. It’s good for people to see athletes who have their priorities straight. Good luck and congratulations!

Stephen,
Outstanding win!!! We watched and cheered for you like crazy. Help us melt the snow here in Calary so we can start playing soon!!

Congrats.

David Jones

Congratulations Stephen,
All of Canada was behind you in your win. I was very happy as well to see the Canadian flag beside your name this year. Anyone who stays to shovel snow in Calgary during the winter is about Canadian as they come. Congratulations again, and I am sure this is just the second PGA victory in a line of many more.

Congratulation on a great victory, I always new you would do well even when we lived back in Orlando 16 years ago. I wish you luck the rest of the year and maybe I will see you at Augusta or the Heritage (I do not live far from either).

Keep up the good playing.

Stephen,
Great to see you win. Heart warming to see you and your caddie brother, Robert, standing together to make decisions that led to your success. We wish you and Robert continued success.

Louis & Earl Sellers

I want to congratulate you on your victory, not only in golf but your wife’s fight against cancer. I lost my mother at the end of January to lung cancer. May god bless you both and be strong.

Todd C. Lawson

Congratulations Stephen from all of us here in T&T. It may have been the maple leaf that was hoisted, but in our hearts it was the red, white and black. Best wishes to you and your family.

Rima Mohammed

Congratulations.
I want to thank you for one of the greatest rounds of golf I've ever seen! Almost every shot was to the right part of the fairway or green and your putting was meticulous. I wish you much success in the years to come and best wishes for Jodi's continued recovery.

Thanks again,
