PGA TOUR Skill Ratings
The Skill Ratings were developed to give a quick visual overview of the
style of play that individual PGA TOUR players uses in their approach to
the game. The players are rated in four areas: power, accuracy, short
game, and putting.
Each of the categories is comprised of at least three ShotLink
statistics measuring the specific area of a player's performance. A
player's score for each category is based on a scale of one to 10, with
one being low. Each statistic is scored using the deciles created using
the most recent two complete years of ShotLink data available. Players'
statistics in the top-10 percent get a 10, the next a nine, and so
forth. The scores from each statistic are combined to create an overall
score for each category.
