Fans congratulate Holmes

Editor's note: J.B. Holmes, who earned medallist honors at the 2005 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament, captured his first TOUR title on Sunday with an impressive seven-stroke victory at the FBR Open. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Holmes, who now gets to head to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes Championships in 2007.

Congratulations J.B.! You had a great week and deserved the victory. Even more impressive was your walk down the 17th fairway, slapping hands with all the fans, especially the young golf fans. There is nothing better than seeing a pro interact with the fans! -- Scott Limer

Congrats. I know everyone in Lexington and the UCLUB is very proud of you. I hope you will be seen sometime at the UCLUB when you have a break. Also some guys are talking about going to Augusta for a practice round now. Keep up the good work. -- John O'Hara

Congratulations J.B.! Living in Lexington, Ken., it was great to see a local boy win a PGA TOUR tournament. However, more gratifying than the win was seeing how proud your father looked standing in the 18th fairway watching you finish the round. There are many young athletes today who don't have a close relationship with their family. I am sure you and your father will remember February 5, 2006 forever. Good luck the remainder of the season. -- Michael Huff

John, I played in a scramble with you at the Campbellsville Country on Memorial Day some 6 years ago and knew then that I would be watching you on national television someday. It was a privilege and I will cherish the event always because I played the best I have ever played in my life. We are so proud of you. God Bless and good luck in the future. -- Vicki Mullins

John, As a graduate of the University of Kentucky and a member of the University Club of Kentucky, just wanted to say awesome job! Hope we get to see you at Augusta this year! -- Eric Adams

Congratulations on your win. We are proud of our hometown guy. Many thanks. -- Buddy Kirtley, Taylor County High Class of 1985

JB, Great job at the FBR Open. I followed your success at UK. Thanks for representing Kentucky in a big way. I will look forward to watching you play more in the future through the telecasts. Good luck the rest of the year. -- Brad Poe in Lexington, Ken.

Wow, what a show!!! Congrats to J.B. Holmes and thanks for letting us watch some spectacular golf. Hope you can keep the momentum going. -- Kathy O.

John Allen is now bragging about the time that he out drove you at the "Tucker Grudge Match," and then he has to admit that you were only seven at the time! Congratulations on your dream come true! We are proud of you! -- Susan and John Allen

Congrats to JB for winning the FBR Open. Coming from a small community in [Kentucky] to make it big on a professional level is great. The people in [Kentucky] are proud of you. Keep it going. -- David Nelson in Hopkinsville, Ken.

I sensed it back in August at the Walker Cup that things were just a little bit off all week, and that when you finally got everything working together at once you'd have a good shot at surprising some people on [the PGA TOUR]. It was fun being on the bag that week, and even more fun watching since then. Keep having fun out there, and best of luck to you for the rest of the season. -- Matt Troy

Congrats J.B. I was lucky enough to play with J.B. in the Kentucky State High School golf tournament, and I have played with him during his career at the University of Kentucky. J.B. is a first-class golfer, and a first-class person. An amazing start to a very promising career on the PGA TOUR. -- Scott Downing
