Editor’s note: David Toms won the Sony Open in Hawaii by five strokes on Sunday. Here are some of the e-mails PGATOUR.com received congratulating Toms, who now gets to head back to Hawaii for the season-opening Mercedes Championships in 2007. Watch video highlights from Toms' victory
Back in Louisiana, we're still looking for things to cheer about. This
was a great, dominating performance, reminiscent of LSU's victory over
Miami in the Peach Bowl, and almost as heart-warming as the work you
[and Hal and Kelly!] did in providing relief for Hurricane victims and
rescue workers. Thanks for the great example! Congratulations and keep
up the good work!
David, congratulations on a great win. Really is great to see you get
this season off to a strong start. You are a great ambassador of golf,
the TOUR and the SEC. Keep up the great work!
David, Congratulations on another win. I have been watching you since a
high school buddy of mine caddied for you in your first event here in
the Quad Cities. It has been fun to watch you mature on TOUR to become
one of the strongest players out there. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations, David, on your win at the Sony (Open in Hawaii). I
really enjoyed playing with you a year ago at the Mercedes
(Championships) and look forward to having another opportunity to do so
at a future tournament. All the best for an outstanding 2006.
GOOD FOR YOU!!! It is great to see someone with real class win again and
after the physical problems you have had. It is a great day. I have not
had the pleasure to meet you, but one of my friends from Wichita has and
he has nothing but praise for you and your attitude about golf and life.
Hi, David: You were kind enough to sign my daughter's visor at the Sony
Open. She will cherish this forever! Congratulations on your win!
David, I have been a fan of you and Hal Sutton, and it was great to see
you win the Sony Open. I live in Henderson, Texas so I'm not too far
from your hometown of Shreveport. I will continue to watch you during
your golfing career and hope you have a great winning year.
CONGRATULATIONS on a beautiful win.
Hi, David! Congrats with a tremendous victory. I follow you from Norway.
Hope your body is OK now after the collapse. Hope to see you with our
only Norwegian PGA TOUR-player, Henrik Bjornstad, soon. All the best to
you. You are a great sportsman. Kind regards,
Way to go! You continue to serve as a great ambassador for LSU and
Louisiana. Tear ‘em up in 2006.
Way to go, David! I saw you in Atlanta and told you that I, too, was a
Toms and I must admit, I pull for you every week. If nothing else, it
puts my name in the headlines. Go get ‘em.
Dear David. I have followed you on television for many years. I want to
congratulate you with the win at Sony Open. It is nice to see you back
on the track. Best regards
David, you’re a class act. Congrats on your win and keep on doing your
wonderful charity work.
Congrats on your victory and course-record 61 in Hawaii this weekend.
Being a Louisiana native and LSU alum, you represent the state
honorably. Geaux Tigers!!
David, what you did this weekend was unbelievable! I'm not even talking
about the large margin of victory and the course record-setting round on
Saturday. To win so soon after having the heart surgery was incredible.
Being from the Farmington area, I was looking forward to seeing you play
in the 84 LUMBER Classic last season. I was concerned when I learned of
your episode on the course. I'm glad to see that you have returned to
the level you were playing at before you injury. Congratulations on your
win in the 2006 Sony Open!
Hi David. Congratulations on winning the Sony Open in Hawaii. Here in
Asia we had to watch the game start very early in the morning around 3
a.m. It's a nice way to start your 2006 TOUR. I have always been a big
fan of you. Keep in the fairway, and sink all your over-20 yard putts!
Great job today, David. Keep it up. You are one of the best
ball-strikers I've ever seen. Congrats,
Congratulations to a guy who not only overcame several personal health
setbacks last year but spent countless hours in his home state of
Louisiana helping others overcome their setbacks when the hurricanes
took all they had. Sometimes the humble and generous are blessed beyond
our understanding.
From someone who has experienced the same heart condition, lives and
dies purple and gold and survived Katrina. Thanks for a bright day in
The Big Easy. Congrats. |
