Even though the International Team is only up by one point heading into the weekend, they may have the advantage in the next two rounds of competition at The Presidents Cup.

It appears that Captain Gary Player has found the right combinations for the first two days as only one player on the International Team, Stuart Appleby, has been shut out for the first two rounds -- and that was probably more due to tough draws than struggles within his game. Meanwhile, the U.S. Team has four players who have not earned a point and two of them, Kenny Perry and Davis Love III, have been paired together for both rounds.

With everyone contributing to the International Team, the players’ confidence is probably very high as each team member has enjoyed some success. This confidence and balance gives Player some flexibility with his pairings on Saturday and may make some of his decisions for the next two rounds a bit easier.

On the U.S. side, Captain Jack Nicklaus is facing some tough decisions on whom to pair together and who to split apart. Before the matches, Couples and Love seemed like an obvious pairing as they have won multiple times in international competition, but with both veterans being shut out in the first two rounds, do you take a chance on pairing them together? Can Nicklaus keep rolling with two hot teams, Verplank and Leonard and DiMarco and Mickelson, or does he split them and hope to find even better combinations?
