Zach Johnson used some impressive iron play to win the BMW Championship. His proximity to the hole ranking was the best in the field and ranked among the best of the season. We'll take a look at that and more by going inside the numbers ...

-.254  Strokes gained-putting for Tiger Woods at BMW, which ranked 45th in the field. … To say the least, Woods has struggled on the greens in the FedExCup Playoffs. His SGP was -.932 (70th) at the Deutsche Bank Championship and .475 (29th) at The Barclays. Will Woods turn it around in time to win the FedExCup at East Lake? It’s one of the more interesting storylines this coming week.

4  Number of greens in regulation Woods missed at the BMW from 125 yards and in while in the fairway. … According to Elias Sports Bureau, the last time Woods missed that many greens from that distance in the fairway was at the 2012 World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational.

6 of 10  That was Johnson’s performance on putts from 10 to 15 feet at the BMW. … According to Elias Sports Bureau, the 60-percent rate from this distance is the second best of his career at an event (minimum 10 events). Johnson made 7 of 10 putts from 10 to 15 feet at the 2007 World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship.

16 feet  Proximity to the hole for Jim Furyk during his second-round 59. ... Furyk became the sixth player in PGA TOUR history to card golf’s magical number. His 16 feet was 19 feet closer than the field average during the second round. For the season, and perhaps not surprisingly, Furyk ranks No. 1 on the PGA TOUR in proximity to the hole at 31 feet, 2 inches. If Furyk keeps it up through the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, that would be the best season mark since Tim Clark led the TOUR at 30 feet, 3 inches in 2010.

25 feet, 4 inches  Johnson’s proximity to the hole at BMW, which led the field for the week. … Johnson’s mark was tied for the fifth best among tournament leaders in this category for the season. Pretty impressive.

32  Consecutive fairways hit for Furyk at the BMW, which started late in Round 1 and ended in Round 3. … Furyk is one of the most accurate hitters on TOUR, ranking second in driving accuracy at 71.19 percent. But his consecutive fairways hit mark was especially exceptional. Only Ryan Moore hit more fairways in a row this season, hitting 39 straight at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance.

59  Number of sub-par rounds in FedExCup Playoffs history for Steve Stricker, which ranks first all-time. … Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk rank second, each with 50. Stricker tied for fourth at the BMW Championship and ranks sixth in the FedExCup. Stricker is also one of only three players to qualify for East Lake in each of the first seven years of the FedExCup competition (Mickelson, Hunter Mahan).
