The Greenbrier Classic winner Jonas Blixt can thank his putting for his success.
Blixt ranked second in stokes gained-putting and first in three other putting categories at The Greenbrier. Until the last three tournaments where he has made the cut, he has been struggling with his short game; yet Blixt has shown a strong history in putting.
During 2012, he finished the season with a putting hot streak. Blixt finished inside the top 25 in SGP in his final 10 events of 2012 where he played all four rounds. In five of those events, he finished in the top 10. For the entire 2012 season, Blixt made 15 cuts. He finished in the top 20 in SGP in nine of those tournaments.
This season, Blixt started off slow with his putting. He wasn’t able to break into the top 20 in SGP during an individual event until recently. There is a strong correlation between his putting and his tournament success. At the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial he finished fifth in SGP and T11th for the tournament. He then took second in SGP at The Greenbrier Classic and went on to win the tournament.
