SYNOPSIS
 Tiger Woods said all along that he wanted to be a greedy host -- and on the July 4th weekend just outside the nation's capital, he certainly was. Woods completed the 2009 "legends" slam by winning at Congressional, adding the victory at his own tournament -- this was the third year he had hosted the TOUR event -- to earlier wins at Arnold Palmer's event at Bay Hill and Jack Nicklaus' event at Muirfield Village. Woods also won for the third time this season in his last start before a major. But it didn't come easy. He played in the final group with a resurgent Anthony Kim, but the real challenge came from Hunter Mahan, who put the finishing touches on a course-record tying 62 about 90 minutes before Woods completed his round. Woods closed with a 67, though, and made a 20-footer for birdie on the 16th hole to set himself up for the win that moved him to the top of the FedExCup standings. "What Hunter did today was pretty impressive," Woods said. "I certainly didn't see that score out there. He went out there and put so much pressure on both AK and I. I think he was done when we were on 12, so six holes to go, and at the time I was tied for the lead. It was just like, you can go either way. You can win the tournament or you can lose the tournament from here. Just got to keep plodding along and hopefully maybe sneak one or two birdies coming in and get the title."
