SYNOPSIS
 This win at Firestone was the fourth of Tiger Woods' career on the South Course and his fifth of the season. He held a share of the lead after each of the first three rounds and then seized the one-stroke win over Chris DiMarco when he rolled in a pesky 18-footer for birdie on the 16th hole. Kenny Perry had actually passed Woods in the fourth round but the five bogeys the man from Kentucky made on the back nine put the game's No. 1 player back on control. Woods sealed the victory when he threaded his third shot through two trees and two-putted for par from 25 feet at the final hole. The win was Woods' ninth in 18 World Golf Championships. "Once he hit the second shot on 18, I went up and took a shower," DiMarco said, knowing Tiger would not be giving this one away.
