David Duval will have limited status on TOUR in 2010 after finishing outside the top 125 on the money list for the seventh straight year at No. 130. The 2001 British Open champion should be attractive to sponsors looking to fill out their fields, though, so he'll likely get 18-20 starts Then it's up to Duval to do something with those opportunities. Granted, he came close to writing the ultimate fairy-tale story at Bethpage last year when he tied for second at the U.S. Open. But he didn't finish higher than 55th in the other 20 tournaments he entered. A look at his stats tells why. The 13-time PGA TOUR still hits his driver a long way but he finds barely half (50.93 percent) of his fairways. And while he's still a decent putter he ranks 181st in greens in regulation. His scoring average is slightly above par at 72.20, as a result.
He will play the majors due to his runner-up finish at Bethpage, but we're still waiting for the full-fledged comeback.
In 2009, Duval ranked third on TOUR in proximity to hole on approach shots from 150-175 yards, averaging 24 feet from the pin in 103 attempts.
