The man who earned the nickname "Aqua-Man" was relatively quiet in 2009 -- which is one reason to watch him during the upcoming season. Few players try harder or are harder on themselves than golf's original from Tampa. Austin's two-year exemption for winning the 2007 Stanford St. Jude Championship expired at the end of last season. While he was well within the top 125 on the money list at No. 82, Austin's earnings were roughly half of his total for each of the last two seasons. His three top-10s in 2009 came within a six-tournament stretch. He didn't find fairways or greens as regularly as he did the previous year -- going from 58th to 98th in driving accuracy and 14th to 106th in greens in regulation.
He's still an amazing ball striker -- but also still searching for four days of putting magic. Never count out Woody. When he believes he makes believers out of us.
Austin is finding consistency with age. Since turning 39, he has turned in seven straight seasons earning at least $1 million. Previously, he had just one over $600,000.
