The 2010 season offers Robert Allenby another opportunity to end what has become an eight-year PGA TOUR victory drought. Those back-to-back wins at the Nedbank Challenge and Australian PGA in December should give the Aussie momentum, though, as he seeks a fifth TOUR trophy to place in his home. Allenby's 2009 season started later than usual due to the death of his mother in January. Once he began playing again, though, the Aussie wasted little time posting his first top 10 in his third start, tying for third at The Honda Classic, wearing a pink shirt on Sunday in honor of his mother. He got another top 10 in Memphis and tied for second at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, four strokes behind Tiger Woods. As well as he hit the ball tee-to-green this year, it's hard to believe Allenby didn't win. He ranked fifth in total driving and 24th in greens in regulation. But while he was giving himself chances, the putter refused to cooperate -- Allenby ranked 182nd in putting and 173rd in putts per round.
Find the right flat stick and find the winners circle again. Remember The Presidents Cup. It is hard to believe that he hasn't won in over seven years.
Though he went winless and had just three top-10s, Allenby ranked fifth in total driving and seventh in ball-striking. He also ranked in the top 25 in all approaches from 175-225 yards.
