Mike Weir will undoubtedly be looking forward to the U.S. Open in 2010. Not only does the Canadian have the fairways-and-greens game it demands, the championship is being held at the Pebble Beach Golf Links. Weir's record on the picturesque course that meanders along the Pacific Ocean speaks for itself. He finished second in last year's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am - which was his seventh top-10, fourth top-3 and second runner-up in the tournament. Not to mention, Weir has five top-10s in U.S. Opens, including last year's tie for 10th at Bethpage. The eight-time PGA TOUR champ's final top-10 of 2009 came when he tied for sixth at the Frys.com Open in his title defense. His two-year exemption for that victory expired at the end of last season, but that shouldn't be an issue -- Weir hasn't finished lower than 78th on the money list in the last 11 years.
He's always a factor, always a professional. He plays a consistent style of golf that works on style of course. Weir can win anytime, anywhere.
The Canadian flashed some serious short game skills once again in 2009, ranking 33rd in putting and 24th in sand saves, but he also ranked fifth in going for the green making birdie or better.
