He'll turn 46 in 2010, but Scott Verplank doesn't show any signs of slowing down. He topped $2 million last year and while he didn't win, the Oklahoma State grad was repeatedly in contention with six top-10 finishes. All but one of those came in Verplank's last 10 events. His best of the season came at the Deutsche Bank Championship where he tied for second behind his good buddy Steve Stricker, despite getting a dose of food poisoning when the two dined together early in the week. Verplank may not have the length of some of the younger players on TOUR, but he finds fairways and greens with the kind of accuracy that can wear an opponent down. He ranked 17th in the All-Around category and earned more than $2 million last year.
He should be one of the guys who benefits most from the new groves. That could help Scott push the sun back up in the sky. There are still a few blanks on his impressive resume.
Though he was 145th in driving distance in 2009, the steady Texan placed 11th in driving accuracy by hitting the fairway 71.40 percent on average.
