There's no time like the present for Jerry Kelly, who doesn't want to wait another 200 starts for his next PGA TOUR win. And if he can continue to wield the putter the way he did last year, 2010 just might bring success sooner rather than later. Kelly ended a seven-year winless drought last year when he took a one-stroke victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. He nearly picked up another victory, too, when he shot 66-65 on the weekend at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee and finished one shot out of a playoff in a tournament the Wisconsin native would dearly love to win. Kelly advanced all the way to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola for the first time since 2005. Among the reasons, Kelly dramatically improved his putting -- moving from 156th in 2008 to 29th last year. Not surprisingly, he posted six top-10s and earned $2.5 million.
He's motivated, in shape and hungry. Kelly could play his best golf in his 40s. He's motivated by his friend Steve Stricker and anxious to prove that he is a top player.
Kelly improved dramatically in scoring average from 2008 to 2009, as he ranked 100th in 2008 then 22nd in 2009. He also significantly improved his standing in putting average.
