The holidays with his wife and three kids will certainly be fun. But Justin Leonard probably can't wait to tee it up again in 2010 after squandering a golden opportunity to pick up his 13th TOUR win in the final event last year. Leonard had the fist pump primed as the 16-foot birdie putt tracked to the final hole of regulation at the Children's Miracle Network Classic in November. It rimmed out, though, and Leonard missed another on the first hole of regulation to head home empty-handed. Even so, he couldn't be too disappointed. Leonard won $2.2 million and posted six top-10s, including a tie for eighth at the British Open which he won in 1997. It was an extremely consistent year for the steady-eddy Texan who ranked 12th in the TOUR's All-Around category and eighth in birdies.
He's back on form. We need Justin in Wales next fall. I believe he will make that team on his own. He works harder than most people realize and could turn a great career into a World Golf Hall of Fame career over the next few years.
The Texan ranked seventh on TOUR in putting average last season, a category he also excelled at in 2008 but struggled in during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
