The doubts are gone. Now Retief Goosen can look ahead to the 2010 season with confidence after ending a four-year victory drought at the Transitions Championship last year. "Eventually, you wonder if you can still do it," the 40-year-old Goosen acknowledged. Not only did he do it - two-putting from 25 feet on the 72nd hole to beat Charles Howell III and Brett Quigley - but Goosen almost did it again at the RBC Canadian Open. The quiet South African eagled the 72nd hole at Glen Abbey to force a playoff with Nathan Green but bogeyed the second extra hole to finish second. That was his fourth straight of sixth or better worldwide, including a tie for fifth at the British Open. Goosen reached THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola for the first time since the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup began. He topped $3 million in earnings for the third time in his career - and the first since 2005.
The silent assassin still has plenty of ammo. He showed us that last year.
His missed cut at the Masters was his only missed cut of the year. It was the third time in Goosen's career (2009, 2005, 2002) in which he played a full season and missed only one cut.
