Brian Gay will play in his first Masters in 2010 thanks to not one, but two victories last year. The late-blooming Floridian now has three career wins, all accomplished in a span of 16 of the best months of golf in his career. When Gay won last year, he won big. The first victory came at the Verizon Heritage where he closed with a 64 to take a record-setting 10-stroke win. Four starts later, Gay fired a 66 on Sunday and captured the St. Jude Classic presented by FedEx by a five-stroke margin. Gay proceeded to play in THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola for the first time and finished 21st in the FedExCup. Not surprisingly, his earnings of more than $3.2 million represented a career-high.
At least John Daly's pants are louder. Plays great and knows how to win when length isn't a factor. He won twice by a combined 15 shots in 2009.
Gay three-putted his fourth hole of the year at Kapalua, and then went the next 199 holes without a three-putt. For the year, he was third on TOUR in three-putt avoidance.
