Jim Furyk did everything but win last year, and he's hoping he can remedy that situation in 2010. The 39-year-old had more top-10 finishes than anyone on TOUR who wasn't named Tiger Woods in 2009 -- and ironically, Furyk's best, solo second at the Memorial Tournament, left him a shot shy of the world No. 1. Furyk played in 23 events last year and only missed the cut twice. He had 11 top-10 finishes and three more of 25th or better in the remarkably consistent campaign. Try as he might, though, Furyk just couldn't get over the hump to pick up his 13th TOUR victory and his first since 2007. Furyk really rose to the occasion during the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. He tied for 15th at The Barclays, then shared eighth at the Deutsche Bank Championship and was runner-up at the BMW Championship -- which vaulted him to third in the FedExCup. Furyk ended up fourth overall after he tied for seventh at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. He has competed in every Playoffs event over the last three years, and he's finished 15th or better in the FedExCup each season.
The clock is ticking on his next win, expect it to be a big one. Furyk is far from finished but he won't be at Kapalua.
During one stretch early in the 2009 season, Furyk got up-and-down from greenside bunkers 15 consecutive times. It was the longest such stretch on TOUR for the year.
