Tiffany & Co. becomes Official Awards and Gift Provider of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- The PGA TOUR and Tiffany & Co. announced Monday a long-term marketing partnership whereby Tiffany becomes an “Official Awards and Gift Provider of the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour.” As such, Tiffany is designing and crafting the FedExCup Trophy, which will be presented annually to the winner of the TOUR’s new season-long points competition. The sterling silver and titanium trophy will be unveiled the first week of January at the Mercedes-Benz Championship, which tees up the inaugural FedExCup. “We are honored to be associated with the PGA TOUR and the creation of the new FedExCup,” said Tom O’Rourke, Tiffany & Co. vice president of business sales. “Sports trophies are a significant part of our history. The world’s greatest athletes have hoisted Tiffany trophies in victory on the gridiron, baseball diamond and fields of play throughout sport. We look forward to engraving the new FedExCup with the name of the inaugural champion next September.” The FedExCup competition encompasses a 33-week PGA TOUR FedExCup Season followed by the first-ever, four-event PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. Following a progressive cut through the first three Playoff events, the competition culminates in mid-September with THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, where the FedExCup Champion will be determined and the FedExCup Trophy presented. Tiffany also will provide an on-site engraver at each TOUR Championship to engrave the champion’s name. “We are extremely pleased to partner with such a prestigious company as Tiffany,” said Tom Wade, chief marketing officer for the PGA TOUR. “The FedExCup truly is a yardstick for the highest level of success on TOUR, and we knew it was important to create an appropriate symbol of this very special achievement. Tiffany obviously has the experience and expertise to craft a trophy worthy of the FedExCup competition.”
