Lehman picks raffle winner for trip to 2006 Ryder Cup
NOTE: Updated Monday, Aug. 21, 2006 -- U.S. Ryder Cup Captain
Tom Lehman drew the winning ticket in the raffle to win a trip to the
2006 Ryder Cup in Co. Kildare, Ireland. The winner is William Dahl of
Jacksonville, Fla. Help Fred Funk assist a young man in need. By purchasing a $100 raffle ticket, you could win a trip for four to the 2006 Ryder Cup. The lucky fan with the winning ticket will receive roundtrip airfare for four from Atlanta to Dublin, as well as two hotel rooms from September 20-26, 2006 and four badges to the Ryder Cup at The K Club on Sept. 22-24.
Not only could a ticket bring you one step closer to some of the greats of the game, but it will also benefit a real-life hero. JT Townsend is a teen from Jacksonville, Fla. who suffered a debilitating and life-threatening injury during a football game his senior year of high school. Funk, winner of the 2005 THE PLAYERS Championship, has pledged to raise funds to build JT and his family a handicap-accessible home and to aid with his continuing medical care. 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go to a trust established for this purpose. “Everyone who comes in contact with JT is overwhelmed by his internal fortitude, determination to overcome obstacles and infectious smile—including my wife Sharon and me,” said Funk, who lives in nearby Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. “JT’s love for live and extraordinary strength of character has had a huge impact on us.” The raffle closes August 11, 2006. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn August 21, 2006 by Tom Lehman, the 2006 Ryder Cup captain. The winner will be notified via telephone. To purchase a ticket, call 1-800-556-5400 ext. 3542.
