New logo unveiled for THE PLAYERS Championship

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- A stronger visual connection between THE PLAYERS Championship and the PGA TOUR is established in a new tournament logo unveiled today that incorporates the TOUR’s iconic swinging golfer.

The new mark establishes a more direct correlation to being the PGA TOUR membership’s own marquee event by shortening the prevalent brand to THE PLAYERS. Although “Championship” will remain in the official name, all treatments on television and in advertisements will reference THE PLAYERS. The gold swinging golfer is positioned between these two words.

“With the move to May next year and the massive renovation process currently underway at the TPC Sawgrass, this certainly is a new era for THE PLAYERS,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem. “We felt it was timely to make a logo change to coincide with the significant changes taking place with the tournament and the TPC Sawgrass.”

The logo was unveiled during a press conference announcing JELD-WEN as a third Proud Partner of THE PLAYERS, joining PricewaterhouseCoopers and UBS.
