CA partners with Goosen and Howell
RYE, N.Y. -- CA (NYSE: CA) announced Tuesday it has signed PGA TOUR professional Retief Goosen and European Tour professional David Howell to multi-year agreements to represent the company around the world. The two pro golfers will play significant roles in CA's recently announced multi-year partnership with the World Golf Championships. The partnership will feature two of the world's finest golfers and compliment the IT management software company's overall global marketing strategy and messaging. South Africa's Goosen is a two-time U.S. Open champion who has captured titles on three different tours -- the PGA TOUR, European Tour and South African Tour. England's David Howell has five international titles including the 2006 BMW International Open, and played a major role on Europe's Ryder Cup-winning squad in 2004. "We are very pleased to have these two world-class golfers as part of the CA golf team," said Don Friedman, CA chief marketing officer. "Their broad visibility in the global golf community, as well as their approach to the game, aligns with our goal of developing more efficient and effective marketing platforms to reach our customers, many of whom are avid golfers. We have chosen them as well for the elegant simplicity of their style and approach to golf, which parallels our key value proposition to our customers -- the ability to unify and simplify their IT management to make business more productive, nimble, competitive and secure." The new relationship kicks off at the Barclays Classic at Westchester Country Club from June 8-11, where Goosen and Howell will begin wearing the CA logo on their golfing apparel. The partnership will allow the global use of each player's name and likeness in both print and television advertising, and Goosen and Howell will also make several hospitality appearances at World Golf Championships and PGA TOUR events. "I'm flattered to have been chosen by CA to represent its brand globally," said Goosen. "CA's approach to golf and this partnership shows an appreciation for the game and those around the world who love it." "I look forward to being a part of CA's global golf program," said Howell. "The World Golf Championships are some of the most challenging and exciting events on the schedule, and their international flavor is very appealing to a player." CA launched its global golf initiative with the announcement of a five-year partnership with the World Golf Championships in January 2006. The agreement includes a title sponsorship of the World Golf Championships-CA Championship at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Fla., beginning in March 2007. The partnership is a fully integrated marketing and sponsorship program designed to leverage CA's visibility among its customers and includes the title sponsorship, broadcast media, brand visibility, customer hospitality and other partnership opportunities. The partnership will play a prominent role in CA's significantly enhanced global brand campaign that will launch on June 8. The CA Championship will be played at Doral's Blue Course and will feature the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Ranking along with the top finishers on the money lists comprising the International Federation of PGA Tours (PGA TOUR, European Tour, Australasia Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and Southern Africa Tour). The tournament will be televised in 140 countries. |
