PGA TOUR unveils exclusive line of premium wines

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- There is an undeniable parallel between the game of golf and the business of winemaking. Both are set in picturesque backgrounds and are instrumental in creating lasting memories. It is this that inspired the creation of a new exclusive portfolio of fine wines -- PGA TOUR Wines.

Golf fans and wine lovers everywhere can now enjoy a premium line of wines produced exclusively for the PGA TOUR. The PGA TOUR Wines were created by Bermuda Triangle Ventures, Inc. and feature today’s hottest varietals selected from some of the finest vineyards in California.

The concept behind PGA TOUR Wines was to combine excellent wines with sophisticated packaging to reflect the high quality and standards of the PGA TOUR brand and the lifestyle of golfers. “The TOUR is very excited about this new relationship as it extends our brand to our fans and friends in a unique way that reflects their chosen lifestyle,” said Leo McCullagh, Vice President of Marketing and Retail Licensing for the PGA TOUR.

PGA TOUR Wines were previewed at last year’s Presidents Cup and have been served at several marquee TOUR events. The portfolio currently consists of three distinctive flights at various price points. The Players Cellars flight offers premium wines at an attractive price and includes a 2004 Santa Barbara Chardonnay ($15) and a 2003 Sonoma Dry Creek Valley Merlot ($18), as well as a California Sparkling Wine that commemorates the 25th Anniversary of the Champions Tour ($15). The Champions Select wines focus on more specific appellations and features, a 2004 Sonoma Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc ($18), a 2003 Monterey Santa Lucia Highlands Syrah ($24) and a 2002 Sonoma Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel ($24). Completing the portfolio is the exclusive Commissioner’s Private Reserve selection of ultra premium boutique wines. The flight’s 2004 Sonoma Chardonnay ($38) and 2003 Sonoma Dry Creek Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($44) are both handcrafted and very limited in production.

PGA TOUR Wines will add many new varietals in 2006, including three new Cabernet Sauvignons, a Santa Lucia Highlands (Monterey) Pinot Noir, a Santa Barbara Pinot Grigio, and a few surprises from exclusive vineyards, according to Brian Zealear, Winemaker.

“We are dedicated to continually vinting a wide variety of premium and ultra premium wines,” said Jim Facciuto, President of Bermuda Triangle Ventures, the licensee for PGA TOUR Wines. “Just as it is an adventure to play golf on the finest golf courses, our wines offer customers the opportunity to experience a culinary adventure of extraordinary hand-crafted wines.”

PGA TOUR Wines will be available at fine wine retailers nationwide. Additional information about the wines can be found at www.tourwines.com.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of PGA TOUR Wines will be donated to charities supported by the PGA TOUR.
