2002: Dropped out of the top 100 after a career season in 2001. Played in a career high 34 events and was in the money 21 times. Earned his only top-10 of the season, a T4, at the Compaq Classic of New Orleans. Collected largest paycheck of his career worth $177,187. His first top 10 since the 2000 Shell Houston Open (T7). Carded hole in one on 16th hole during second round at the Phoenix Open en route to T45 finish. Rounds of 70-66-69-70 at the Touchstone Energy Tucson Open good for T18. 2001: Returned to the PGA TOUR for the third consecutive season by virtue of finishing T31 at the 2000 PGA TOUR Qualifying Tournament. Turned in best season, earning more than double his career total. Did not have a top-10 but posted nine top-25s. Rounds of 68-66 produced 36-hole lead at Greater Greensboro Chrysler Classic. Stood one back after third-round 70. Closing 73 dropped him to T12. Best finish came at MasterCard Colonial where he T11. Was one stroke off 18-hole lead at Buick Challenge after opening 65 but finished 71-73-71 for T31. 2000: Managed to get into 26 tournaments after finishing 147th on the money list in 1999. Highlight of the season came when he got into the field as an alternate on Thursday afternoon at the Shell Houston Open. Posted his best career finish in Houston, a T7, which was his career payday of $84,350. Shared first-round lead at Westin Texas Open after opening with 64 and finished T48. 1999: His first season on TOUR, finished 11th among rookies in earnings with $155,408. Made the cut in 17 of 31 events, including one top-10, a T10 at the Kemper Open. 1998: Closed the Nationwide Tour season on a strong note, making the cut in seven of his last eight tournaments including four top-10s. Earned his first career title at the Boise Open, taking the first-round lead with an opening 63 and sharing the third-round lead. Had T3 at Inland Empire Open and T9 at Nationwide Tour Championship to finish No. 9 on the final money list and earned his 1999 PGA TOUR card for the first time. Amateur: Member of the 1991 Walker Cup team, which he calls his biggest thrill in golf. Won the 1990 Southeastern Conference individual title. All-America selection in 1990 and 1991. |
